This result means one in two people watch anime once a week. Of respondents who answered 'once a week or more' by gender and age group, 86% are males in their 30's. However, looking at the breakdown of frequency, only 8% of males in their 30's answered 'almost every day', while male in their 20's account for 36%.
It's more popular in Japan by a country mile, made by the Japanese for the Japanese. That's the way most Japanese things work, they're very focussed on what their own country's consumers want first, everyone else comes a very distant second.
Easily topping this list with 0.95 Demand Expressions per 100 capita (DEX/c), the USA is the world's most enthusiastic international market for anime. The USA has more than double the demand of the country with the next highest demand for anime titles, the Philippines.
Anime, for most japanese, is nothing more than a form of entertainement. They dont think much of it, the problems they may have with it, video games or anything really, is the same any sane person shall have: deviant uses of the medium.
