Jump to navigation Jump to search. Anime Boston is an annual three-day anime fan convention held in the spring in Boston, Massachusetts, United States. Anime Boston was created and is run by the New England Anime Society, Inc., a Massachusetts-based non-profit organization.
The first Anime Boston was held in 2003 at the Boston Park Plaza, as was the 2004 convention. By Anime Boston 2005, the convention had moved to the Hynes Convention Center and Sheraton Boston Hotel.

In 2011, the Boston Phoenix selected Anime Boston as the city's "Best Nerd Gathering", beating out contenders such as New England Comic Con and PAX East. The convention won the award again in 2012. In 2012, Anime Boston celebrated its tenth year.

The convention in 2015 remained at the George R. Brown Convention Center and used the first and most of the second floors. Anime Matsuri 2020 was moved from July to August due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and was later canceled after Houston announced the city would be holding no more events in 2020.

While most of the people attending anime conventions typically falls in the 16 to 26 age range, expect to see people of all ages, from 8 months to eighty-eight years. 6.
Anime Boston usually runs from the early morning until late at night. Video programming will run about 20 hours a day starting at 8am. Panel programming generally starts around 10am and runs through the evening. The dance runs from the evening late into the night. On Sunday, things usually settle down around dinner time.
