Keiichi Maebara moves to the village and shortly afterwards learns of the village's dark secret: he learns that there was a dam project that could've flooded the village and how a construction worker was lynched, murdered, and dismembered.#N#I had watched the original Higurashi anime whilst also reading some of the manga adaptation. This was one of my favorite horror anime so when I heard that there was to be a remake, I was skeptical at first. With the first episode, looks like it's going in the right direction. The suspense is definitely there with how the girls are suspiciously dodging questions about there being any sort of crime in Hinamizawa. And the ending...good god.#N#The voice acting is fine. Art style...still don't completely love it because it still looks too slick and polished rather than being more "gritty" like the original anime's animation. But at the same time, it does established the sinister underbelly with the first scene being bloodier than in the original anime's first episode. And the original opening theme is present here. I was convinced that they would use a new opening theme, but I am really glad they used it here. It even sounds like a remastered take on it.

Is CG used sparingly?

CG is employed, but very sparingly. The faces expressive without being distracting, the costumes stylish and elegant, the backgrounds solidly rendered and varnished. The character art is noteworthy for how every cast member is distinctive in his/her appearance, behaviour, dress sense and mannerisms despite having such a large cast; too many productions try to fit in a cast larger than the creative wellspring of their crew, and it shows (I'm looking at you, Clannad ).

Is the Battler game complicated?

Sounds complicated? That’s because it most definitely is . The viewer needs a clear head and unbroken focus on this show, as the threads of plot are ever so intricately woven together. Rules in the “game” are also somewhat bewildering: Beatrice will make certain statements about incidents on Rokkenjima in red text that are fact. Battler must in turn use these to disprove the use of magic on the night of bloodshed. If you thought the repetitive arcs of Higurashi were baffling, you ain’t seen nothing yet.
