Manga version of Higurashi Gou by Akase Tomato, serialized in Young Ace Up, ended on September 24, 2021. The final chapter came with a teaser for the new story: Based on “Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Gou” and ” Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Sotsu”, Akase Tomato creates a “different ending arc” from the one in the TV anime.

Higurashi no Naku Koro ni is a story of many chapters. It's about the town of Hinamizawa, and the people who live there, Rena Ryugu, Mion Sonozaki, Satoko Hojo, and Rika Furude, as well as friends, relatives, and visitors dealing with Lord Oyashiro's curse.

StoryCute girl with a cleaver; that carries a nice little ring to it, does it not? While not fully accurate, it rather clearly depicts Higurashi no Naku Koro ni's brooding mixture of drama and horror.
So, I just finished this show! It was ok, I suppose, but I kinda lost interest in it during the second half... and then the final episodes drop some interesting info about what's going on, which will probably be explained in S2, but I'm not sure if I'll ever be in the mood to watch S2.
