How long do anime conventions last?

If you've never been to an anime con, they are typically multi day events over the course of a weekend. Anywhere from two to four days, fans gather together to indulge in all things anime. Cosplayers also gather to show off their costumes, meet other cosplayers, and participate in shoots together.

Programming

The convention typically offers anime viewing rooms, artist alley, autograph sessions, concerts, dances/rave, dealer's room, gaming (arcade, role play, table top, trading card, video) formal ball, karaoke, masquerade, panels, and Q&As.

History

Anime Central was formed in 1998 due to the lack of anime gatherings in the Central United States. During the 2001 convention, construction was occurring at the hotel while the event was underway. Guest Robert DeJesus got married by guest Jan Scott-Frazier, an ordained minister, during the convention.

Anime Central Aftershock!

Anime Central Aftershock! was a programming track offered at the Chicago Comic-Con on August 6–9, 2009. Programming included anime showings, artist appearances, contests, cosplay, and panel events.

Groups

Each event participant group (panelist and performer groups) must select one person to be their point of contact, or Group Lead (GL). The GL has the responsibility of coordinating with Live Events Staff about the details of their group’s event (s).

How to Apply for an Event

It is an amazing privilege for ACen when you share your knowledge and passion about a topic with the community through an event. This is your chance to show us what you can do. We get 400+ applications every year so we look for quality, not quantity.

Performers and panelists are expected to behave in a professional manner when coordinating with Anime Central Staff and while conducting events at the convention. For policy violations see the section on Disciplinary Actions.
