Pokémon the Series: Diamond and Pearl (Japanese: ポケットモンスターダイヤモンド&パール Pocket Monsters Diamond & Pearl) is the third series of the Pokémon anime and is based on the events of the Generation IV core series Pokémon games. It follows Pokémon the Series: Ruby and Sapphire and was succeeded by Pokémon the Series: Black & White.
Pokémon: Diamond & Pearl in Japan, it ran from September 28, 2006 to September 9, 2010 and the United States from April 20, 2007 to February 5, 2011. The series cover the main protagonist Ash Ketchum and his Pikachu 's adventures in the new region Sinnoh.
Though Diamond and Pearl were expected to be released in Japan by 2005, Nintendo revealed that the developers were still working on aspects of the gameplay and that the games would not be released until 2006.
Remakes titled Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl will be released for the Nintendo Switch on 19 November 2021. A prequel, Pokémon Legends: Arceus, will be released for the Switch on 28 January 2022.
