A Christian can be an otaku if you are using the soft definition of the label, although you should be hesitant to use any label other than Christian to define yourself to others. If you are obsessed with anime, in that it dominates your thinking, than no, you can’t be both. Let me use myself as an example.
For the Christian, guarding what comes and stays in our minds is very important. We are to “take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ” ( 2 Corinthians 10:5 ). While there can be a lot of questionable things in anime, there are strong Christians who enjoy the medium.
Scripture condemns illicit sexuality, which is why some Christians question their ability to watch anime. Lustful thoughts are equated with illicit action–that is, any sexual act outside of marriage (Hebrews 13:4). Anime often features scenes that could encourage lust.
Like I mentioned before, some anime contains all sorts of sinful actions that can affect us if we are not careful. Unless you have a good recommendation from a trusted Christian friend, you never know what you will find when watching a new show for the first time.
Some anime thrives on the topic of religion, using Japanese culture as a setting for fantasy adventures in which the spirit world and humanity mingle, either pleasantly or unpleasantly. Given the mystical foundation of Eastern culture, anime also tends to employ elements of the occult such as tarot cards, incantations, and more.

The Importance of Context First, there is a host of customs, allusions, and metaphors implicit in anime derived from the Buddhist or Shinto tradition. To the extent that anime is a production and reflection of Japanese culture, it carries Eastern religion as its default mode of supernaturality.

The way Christianity is being portrayed in anime is in the same level as that of portraying French or English culture. It is primarily added to bring about a certain look and feel, but also because the story/plot has some relation to the religion mentioned.
Gokuism seems to be a newly emerging religion that is based on the moral example of the protagonist in the Dragon Ball series: Son Goku. It is not an officially recognised religion, but rather a shared creation of fans on the internet.
The connection of Naruto and Buddhism is evident due to Buddhist characteristics and values evident in the manga/anime, it is also clear that Kishimoto did this in order to persuade his young audience to convert to Buddhism.
My Last Day is a 2011 Christian anime short film created by The Jesus Film Project, with Barry Cook and STUDIO4°C. The story unfolds through the eyes of a criminal who receives the same crucifixion sentence as Jesus Christ.
Is there anime in heaven? No, heaven doesn't exist.
While there's no speculation that Christianity forbids tattoos, there's also no permission saying that it's permitted. A lot of people like to make an analysis of the Biblical verses and draw their conclusions, so finally, tattooing is an individual choice.
MadhouseTrigun was adapted into an anime television series. It was animated by Madhouse and directed by Satoshi Nishimura, written by Yōsuke Kuroda, and produced by Shigeru Kitayama. The music was composed by Tsuneo Imahori. Twenty-six episodes aired on TV Tokyo from April 1 to September 30, 1998.
Anime is one of those forms of media that most Christians automatically slap the “taboo” label on without giving it a second thought, and I understand where they are coming from. Sexual immorality, secularism, and Buddhist philosophy are present in this genre, oppose the teachings of the Bible, and bring many people away from their faith.
Like I mentioned before, some anime contains all sorts of sinful actions that can affect us if we are not careful. Unless you have a good recommendation from a trusted Christian friend, you never know what you will find when watching a new show for the first time. In order to be strong enough to refuse the garbage that we find and take in the Biblical themes that the media provides, we need to have our own relationship with Christ settled. One nice “check” that you can use to see where you lie with Christ is to see how your lifestyle lines up with what Ephesians 5:22-25 says:
And they might see and be encouraged by some biblically approved themes present in anime such as self-sacrifice, kindness, loyalty, endurance, and courage . Other Christians, however, might decide that something with so many lurid landmines is not worth the time required to navigate it safely.
The term anime —the Japanese word for “animation”—generally refers to animation that comes from Japan. Strictly speaking, anime is just another medium used to convey a story or artistic idea. While the actual art style in the form of angles and shading, etc., is morally neutral, there are some more ambiguous points to be addressed regarding anime. The same goes for anime’s printed counterpart, manga.
According to Shintoism, the Japanese people are direct descendants of the many gods and spirits ( kami) living throughout the islands. Shrines to the different gods or spirits are common in Japan, and the themes of Shintoism are also very common in anime and manga.
Given the mystical foundation of Eastern culture, anime also tends to employ elements of the occult such as tarot cards, incantations, and more. Personal honor and success are also common themes in anime. But a focus on personal honor and personal success can lead to pride, which clouds our need for God ( Psalm 10:4 ).
Specific to Japan is Shintoism, a religion that deems the Japanese islands and people divine.
While not every anime movie is extremely sexual or extremely violent, most examples of anime do come with varying levels of salacious and/or violent content, ranging from light in nuendo and slapstick violence to full -on porn (though this is its own subcategory, called hentai) and gore-fests.
hi i'm a former mega Anime fan, I used to love animes that were pretty high rated because of the violence and fighting, ever since I gave my life back to Christ I gave it up, but I still would like to watch some of it but I don't want to wach anything at a PG level or higher, some shows like MegaMan NT warrior I watch, but I get tempted at times to watch stuff like DBZ, and than that tempts me to watch higher stuff and make more graphic AMVs and stuff, I really struggle with it in a way, anyone know any animes that are good but not PG rated that a Christian can watch? ive been lookin round for some, and I want replys from Christians, and I don't want the "Why you give up graphic animes? even the Bible is graphic" routine, please just give some good responses regarding the subject.
I don't have an issue with it. The first few books of the Bible are for more intense if someone wanted to draw it with any kind of accuracy. I do however have an issue with the way women are portrayed in most of anime.

B4C, I honestly don't think you should be watching anime. From your original post, you apparently have some serious issues with it, and I do not believe these issues can really be reconciled.
Also in secular anime, a friend of mine is asking me to mention Haibane Renmei. It's PG-13 for sad, angsty themes, a smoking character, and one bloody scene near the beginning where an angel hatches wings, according to her-but there's no actual violence after that, and the female characters are all dressed modestly.
and also, what about Neon Evangelion Genesis? I heard about it but I haven't seen anything
err.. i cant think of anything, if it doesnt have alot of fighting it's a little perverted or made for -little- kids.
Your parents may remember a show from their youth called Father Dowling Mysteries, in which a Roman Catholic priest investigates crimes and is often accompanied by a nun as his sidekick. Well, add vampires and Japanese animation, and you get Trinity Blood.
This semi-historical series chronicles the adventures of three companions – Jin, Mugen, and Fuu – traveling across Tokugawa-era Japan in search of the mysterious Sunflower Samurai. Along the way, they encounter obstacles ranging from corrupt government officials, to Dutch fans of Geisha, and even a family of vengeful pirates. The series features an amusingly anachronistic soundtrack composed of hip-hop tunes along with its historical setting in the late Edo Period (mid-1800s). It also includes action sequences featuring “martial arts” reminiscent of hip-hop dance culture.
Christians considering a career in acting or performing must consider the bearing their roles will have on themselves spiritually, the lifestyle into which they will be entering, and the influence their performances will have on others.
In addition, the issue of the lifestyle of performers in general must be a consideration for a Christian. There is an enormous amount of drugs, alcohol, and immoral behavior in the entertainment industry. Young people eager to get the “big break” are often used and abused by those in power.
