Gate is propaganda, and based on how high it scores here it's damn effective but as an anime series it fails on the most basic of principles and just isn't any good once you realize it was built solely around being pro-military media fodder.
The closest anime to GATE's premise would be Outbreak Company which is the polar opposite in regard to tone, plot, military focus and so on (it's basically a parody of otaku culture). The only other military anime that come to mind are Attack on Titan of all shows and Utawarerumono.
Maybe Gate will help bring up some popularity in it and more modern military manga/animes start showing up, but gate even this has its own twist instead of mechs etc. it has a dimensional travel situation rather than futuristic. At least for modern military shows we have gate which is great, and theres so much depth that's possible.
While the norm of such a frenetically-themed show would be spastic incoherency, however, GATE progresses fairly steadily in a character-driven narrative. The overall story quickly dwindles into irrelevancy, and what remains is a bunch of fairly interesting actors on a quirky stage of “what ifs.”
While Steins; Gate is primarily a science fiction anime, it also doubles up as a thriller. And part of what makes a great thriller is a mystery along with twists, turns, and revelations sprinkled throughout the series' run. This particular series definitely does not disappoint in this department.

It had like no romance in it from what I remember. There is a female character that likes to flirt with the mc but in a playful way .
In May 2016, North American visual novel localizers Sekai Project released the first volume of GATE, intending to release future volumes in a timely fashion. In 2018, the company posted an update stating that print quality issues were the chief cause of the extended delays in releasing volume two.
The Gate feature fantasy and lot of comedy in between scenes while Zipang is more realistic, gate does have more mature/violent scenes while it looks more friendly.
The acclaimed anime series Steins;Gate is now available on Netflix.
Rory falls deeply in love with Itami and has never been in love before. Rory is a heavy drinker. She can only collect souls of warriors who die in the Special Region not in the world beyond the Gate showing that the world beyond the Gate like Japan is out of her jurisdiction.
6 The Art Style And Animation Hold Up While Steins; Gate is an anime that is eight years old, the art style is very clean and appealing to the eye. Everything down to the colors used is totally crisp. Just like with the art style, the animation quality is equally as high and holds up to this day.
Classily designed and animated, Steins;Gate's full of fun visual touches. Its setting in Tokyo's Akihabara district – a Mecca for all things electronic and geeky – is perfect for its otaku-literate story, while its character designs are bright and distinctive.
In 2017, Sentai Filmworks has stated that they were overwhelmed by the response to the show. They were hoping to finish the script in the Fall of the same year, but nothing was heard later. Many websites claimed that anime would return with the new season in 2019 and 2020, but we know it never happened.
Though it's been five years since the second cour of 1st season ended, the fans are still waiting for the 3rd season. However, we need to understand that the anime Gate: Jieitai Kano Chi nite, Kaku Tatakaeri has only 1 season with 24 Episodes.
Even though there hasn't been any official announcement for Season 3, fans are positive about the third season happening because there is plenty of time for the show makers to renew Gate. Going with a guess, we can expect the third season to come sometime in 2022.
Adding romantic interests to the characters in anime is a good way of getting the viewer even more invested in the characters and to care about them more and how their overall personal plot points unfold. In this case, there is a particular romantic interest that develops with the main character, Rintaro Okabe.
Rintaro Okabe is delightfully arrogant, egotistical, eccentric, all that help make Rintaro so endearing in his own way and have the ability to carry the weight of the plot on his shoulders.
On August 20XX, a gate suddenly appears in Tokyo's Ginza district, unleashing a portal where monsters, medieval knights and other fantasy beings come from another world and wreak havoc on Tokyo. The Japanese Defense Force take action against these monsters and push them back into the "Gate".
Story: When deciding to watch a show, I generally aim to have as little information going in as possible. Usually the synopsis, title, cover image, and average user ratings are the extent of what I expose myself to upfront, leaving my expectations completely open to whatever gets thrown my way.
Overpowered characters easily rise above the conflicts of their story. When competition is involved, they use their intelligence, fighting prowess or pure raw power to win with ease, always staying ten steps ahead.
