Eureka Seven is similar to Darling in the Franxx in a lot of ways. The story, the characters, and the themes all have a clear resemblance. This anime has a stellar narrative that is more of a coming-of-age story than a typical mecha story.
It's shown that the characters that are left on Earth desperately miss Hiro and 002, the children are cursed to never see their friends again and don't seem to reincarnate alongside them. This is a bit sad since the show had such a heavy focus on how close all the parasites were to each other.
