Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope's Peak High School is a mystery horror anime television series produced by Lerche, directed by Daiki Fukuoka, and supervised by Seiji Kishi.
You should definitely have SDR2 and DR1 knowledge when going into this game... DRV3 is its own self-contained storyline, but it might have some fourth wall-breaking references to DR3 that you won't get. It's certainly not required to watch it.
Dangaronpa 3 Originally, they were going to make an anime of Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair. They wanted to create something that would involve Class Trials, but because it would be too painful for the students of Hope's Peak Academy to kill each other again, they decided to conclude with an anime.
Makoto Naegi (苗木 誠) is a character featured in Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony.
Yes, it is the canon conclusion to the Hope's Peak saga..

About Danganronpa. Danganronpa is an anime based on the video game series of the same name. The story takes place in Hope’s Peak Academy, a high school that only accepts ‘ ultimate ‘ or the most brilliant students of the country. Makoto Naegi, an ordinary student with ultimate luck, gets enrolled in the academy.
Although the complaint is justified (since the gameplay is over 20 hours and the first anime has only 13 episodes ), the anime does a great job in covering the whole plot in a zippy way. There are 3 seasons in the anime and a total of 36 episodes.
Dangaronpa is unique because there aren’t just multiple seasons of the animated series ⏤ there’s also an OVA, a special, and a ton of games. Because of this, there are two ways to take in everything Dangaronpa has to offer, with or without video games. First, here’s a list of how to watch the series with just video content.
To kick things off, you’ll want to watch the titular series that first aired in 2013. Danganronpa will introduce you to 16 students trapped within Hope’s Peak Academy as Monokuma, an animatronic bear, attempts to entice them into killing classmates to graduate.
This one-episode OVA is in the same universe but separate from the story of the main anime. You’ll follow Nagito Komaeda, whose bad luck winds up working out well for others. After suffering a terrible death, Nagito lives within his own mind, which is a peaceful existence until The Destroyer of the World arrives.
If you’re looking to add the games into your binge, things can get a little more confusing, as some are interchangeable. Here’s the best order to watch/play in:
Danganronpa the Animation is an abridged version to Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc which was the first game of the Danganronpa series.
As an OVA This little bit isn’t terribly crucial. Also, The viewer is introduced to the basic story through a blend of the game’s second along with Danganronpa 3. Then the story is further specifics.
If you’ve played the first game, there is no reason to see the anime adaptation unless it is for entertainment. Although you could skip the first game the adaptation of the anime is somewhat rushed and skips some aspects.
Considering this is more of a third person shooter which was quite the departure from the visual novel style main games, Ultra Despair Girls may not be something you are interested in playing. In addition, it essentially just gives some more backstory on characters you will see later.
The latest and third game isn’t connected to anything else, including that third series of anime. Also, it’s a funny middle finger to fans. Finally, It sounds like a bad game however it’s not but the developers were playing us with their wits in the end, and I enjoyed it.
As the trial begins, swimmer Aoi Asahina testifies that she and martial artist Sakura Oogami witnessed Sayaka enter the kitchen, during which one of the kitchen knives, which was used as the murder weapon, was stolen. Meanwhile, Kyouko proves Makoto's innocence by pointing out that, since his shower room didn't have a lock, he wouldn't have needed to take apart the doorknob to enter it. After wondering how the culprit entered the room in the first place, Kyouko presents evidence which reveals Sayaka had purposely invited someone into the room, meaning that Sayaka had actually intended to murder someone and pin the crime on Makoto, only for her target to fight back and kill her instead. Remembering the message written in blood, Makoto deduces that "11037" is actually an upside down spelling of "LEON" and accuses baseball star Leon Kuwata of the crime.
Makoto Naegi and the other survivors head out to stop Ryota Mitarai, receiving help from some unexpected allies along the way. Memories are remembered, and feelings are felt as the final battle between hope and despair comes to an eventful conclusion.
Being just a normal student without a special talent, Makoto Naegi wins a lottery to attend the prestigious Hope's Peak Academy where only the top prodigies attend. However, instead of this being the beginning of a wonderful high school life, it's a ticket to despair, because the only way to graduate from Hope's Peak Academy is to kill one ...
Monaca Towa's prophecy comes true when Kyoko Kirigiri's NG code is violated , because of Makoto Naegi. To bring an end to this dreadful game of despair, Kyosuke Munakata decides it's time to decide whose hope is better: his or Makoto's.
Kirigiri steals Monokuma's "treasure." He warns the students that everyone will be held equally guilty. Later that night, Togami finds that Monokuma has gone out of order. The next day, there is a new body.
As the trial gets underway, Byakuya states that Touko is the culprit as she has dissociative identity disorder, her other personality being none other than Genocider Sho. Surely enough, as Touko faints, her personality switches to that of Genocider who, despite casually admitting she is a genuine homicidal maniac, denies killing Chihiro as she always uses scissors in all of her serial killings. Being the only other one who knew of Genocider's crimes, Byakuya is suspected of the crime, curiously not denying it. However, after Makoto deduces Chihiro was actually killed in the boy's changing room, with Kyouko subsequently revealing Chihiro was, in fact, a cross-dressing boy, Byakuya admits he is not the killer and had only modified the crime scene to make the game more interesting.
