RetroPie can handle emulating all classic video game systems from NES up to PlayStation 1 and N64. N64 games are hit or miss; certain games run great (Mario 64, Mario Kart), but others lag (Golden Eye, Donkey Kong). Sega Saturn games don't run; they barely run on desktop computers so don't expect them to run on $35 hardware.
RetroArch is a popular emulator for loading onto retro systems; their site supplies installation directions, too. I don't push using older video game systems because it may not be easy for everyone. But yet, this is a good option if you want something 'free' (well, to use something you already own) to play ROMs on your TV.
Using MiSTer MiSTer is a competitor to RetroPie. Just like RetroPie, it lets you set up and configure your own emulation system. The difference is that it's designed to let you customize the hardware, so it's a modular system. It also supports native hardware (which is a big deal!).
The history of the Retropie started years ago when the Raspberry Pi was released. It's the famous $35 Linux computer for tech enthusiasts. It should come to no surprise that people wanted to put video game emulators on the Pi. Hence, “RetroPie” was born.

Jellyfin has free transcoding out of the box and you can point it to a GPU of choice like Intel Quick Sync over Nvidia.
Jellyfin supports hardware acceleration (HWA) of video encoding/decoding using FFMpeg. FFMpeg and Jellyfin can support multiple hardware acceleration implementations such as Intel Quicksync (QSV), AMD AMF and NVIDIA NVENC/NVDEC through Video Acceleration APIs.

They released the first version in 1981 for an arcade and after that, they applied the game concept to many systems like Atari computers, NES and Game Boy.
As I wanted to share a download link with you, I excluded them from the list. But yes, they are good games too.
Retropie is a free distribution available for Raspberry Pi. You can download it from the official website for any Raspberry Pi model. But I recommend you to have the most powerful one (Raspberry Pi 3B+ for the moment) because some games need power to play them correctly. If you are new to Retropie, I have a full guide on how to start ...
Like for the games limitations, Retropie doesn’t include protected BIOS like PSX. And you’d better not try to download them elsewhere, they are not here for a reason: it’s illegal to use them and the editors don’t want to see them on Retropie. A lot of sites are removing the BIOS links to avoid legal issues.
Download ROMs one by one is fine, but it’s time-consuming#N#You need to find the good one, for supported systems on Retropie, download it, extract it and upload it on Retropie#N#Sometimes it will not start, or crash, and you have to restart these steps
I finally got a 3d printer so I could make this RetroPie case for my pi4. Front cover holds on with magnets. I'm thinking of adding a powerblock hat for an external power switch and will add LEDs to light up the eyes and body using some simple python programs for pwm patterns.
I made a retropie arcade with a raspberry pi 3b and an old Sony CRT tv! Keeps me busy during my studies ;) hope you like it.

Capacity: The Pi's (RetroPie's) capacity depends on the SD card you get. Typically, these cheap Pi bundles on Amazon come with a 32 GB SD card. That's a good enough size to hold a few hundred ROMs.
But yet, being restricted to a limited number of games meant we couldn't fully relive our childhood memories.
