Also, they typically have visually distinct features and quite limited animation style for movement representation.
like myself, some people are addicted to anime because it's fun, action-packed, comedic, and entertaining, it's like a show that's so good you can't help but watch another episode, and the characters are cute and different.
It helps that anime is generally less expensive to produce than Hollywood films. The lower cost allows studios to experiment more often because the bar for profitability is lower. Beyond cost, anime taps into manga as source material, and manga offers a diverse range of stories to pick from.
Many adults watch cartoons and animes to relax and feel relieved. When people are stressed, the best way to get rid of stress is by watching animes and cartoons. They create great laughter that make people forget most difficulties they have been going through.
By contrast, among many American users at least, otaku refers to a passionate fan of anime and manga exclusively. Otaku is less pejorative than its meaning in Japanese and is sometimes used interchangeably with weeaboo.
However, there is nothing to worry about if children watch anime in moderation. Not only with Anime but with any entertainment genre, spending a lot of time is detrimental for the mental health of anyone, not just children. You can set a time for your child to watch a movie like after homework or on the weekend, etc.
Most anime fans become interested in their favorite shows because they like the characters. They want to draw them, act like them, dress up as them, and so on. Their favorite characters are usually young, aesthetically pleasing, and possess desirable traits like confidence, determination, and a positive attitude.

Of course, watching anime can be a compulsive addiction. It's similar to compulsive gambling, Tumblr reading, and other compulsive behaviors. Anime may ease your anxiety, but the association, if you aren't careful, can create anxiety.
Is someone considered weeaboo if they like anime, manga, etc.? No, you are not a weeaboo if you simply enjoy anime and manga and are interested in the Japanese culture. A weeaboo is a person who attempts to act Japanese, disrespects the culture and loves everything that comes from Japan.
Anime can affect our mentality in many different ways depending on which genres you are referring to. Some anime genres may not have very beneficial impacts on us while others may allow us to explore new perspectives and change the way we see things.

It’s still mostly a mystery. But there is a universality to anime that is both unusual and approachable. It’s always been complex and fascinating for me and so many others, and anime has always resonated with me on an emotional level that is very difficult to explain.
One anime, such as “ Full Metal Alchemist”, can simultaneously be a comedy, adventure, fantasy, romance, and science-fiction. For me, anime was always appealing because it opened up a new world — a world I never thought existed or could exist. Anime opened up a world I never experienced in my own life, any film, or book.
While Disney may have a predictable plotline that enforces cultural norms, anime is distinctive in its approach to “universal themes and images.”. For me, anime reinforced a value of relationships and community that Disney never did.
