Here at Hulu, we’re always working to secure more of the shows and movies you love most. However, on occasion, some of your favorite programming may need to be removed. Whenever this happens, we do our best to inform you by moving the content that’s expiring to the Expiring section of My Stuff.
Anime Titles Leaving Hulu Again? At the end of 2021, it seemed like Hulu was going to lose some anime, probably due to the expiration of licenses. In 2022, the titles stayed up and no longer had expiration times on them, so I assumed that they regained streaming rights.
I saw on Hulu there are a lot of highly rated anime shows being expired by the end of 2021. I created some show requests to have them remain available. Please vote! Cowboy Bebop - Keep It! Trigun - Keep It! Space Dandy - Keep It!
Despite the warm and inviting weather, there are only a few weeks left to watch some of your favorite shows and movies on Hulu before they depart at the end of the month. If we had our way, they would be there forever.
Now Hulu has announced that a huge batch of anime is being removed from their library as contracts are set to expire next month as well. This comes at a time where Hulu has also lost rights to their Criterion Collection as that movie library will be moving to an exclusive deal with a new streaming service.
A group of shows including: Digimon (all four seasons), Parasyte, Clannad 1 & 2, Toradora, Akame Ga Kill, Maid Sama, Utano Prince Sama, Golden Time, Wolf Girl and Black Prince, Say I Love You, The Fruits of Grisaia, Persona 4: the animation, The Pet Girl of Sakurasou, and My Love Story are all expiring from Hulu!
An expiration isn't the end of the world, unless it's a series that will no longer be available on Hulu. After a title expires, subscribers can simply download that content again.

It was announced today that Funimation's library will move to Crunchyroll, making the streaming service the premiere anime destination. (Likely related, a lot of anime series are leaving Hulu by the end of March.)
Justin Sevakis of Anime News Network says that Hulu stopped accepting back catalog programs months ago, and has been gradually purging lower-performing titles since then. Hulu should consider adding a “ skip intro” feature to their menu for all of their tv series. Current Process: Viewers currently do not have the option of skipping the title sequence and are forced to sit through the opening credits for every episode, no matter how many episodes are watched in a row.
In my experience some Hulu shows have an expiration date for when they are allowed to be on the service . Many TV shows, for example, only allow the last 5 episodes and this is because of licensing related to a network or sometimes specifically to a show.
