It's true that the characters are younger and younger... But that's not new. Look at Evangelion : the characters are only around fourteen and still, there is still a lot of sexual symbolism under it. But I think it's part of the Japaneese culture. GTO is a great series dealing with this theme. It's about growing up, in a way.
