Don’t let the sunken eyes and monstrous build fool you; All Might is easily one of the most caring anime senseis to ever grace the screen. In the superhero-filled world of My Hero Academia, he is the closest approximation to Superman available.
Might Guy might not be the most powerful sensei in Konoha, but he is probably the best teacher. He recognizes the individual strengths of his team members, and he specifically takes Rock Lee under his wing, recognizing that he needs both extra attention in his training and in encouragement. But he’s no slouch as a ninja himself.

Satoru Gojo (Jujutsu Kaisen) Best Anime Senseis. Image Source: MAPPA via Crunchyroll. Jujutsu Kaisen’s Satoru Gojo is a strange fit for an anime sensei character, but one which makes more sense the longer he’s on screen.
Best Anime Senseis. Image Source: Toei Animation via Crunchyroll. Goku may be one of the strongest there is in Dragon Ball Z, but a big reason he reached that point is thanks to Master Roshi. A hermit who has dedicated his life to martial arts, Roshi understands close combat in a way few in his world could ever hope to.
One of the most important lessons an anime sensei can impart is that no one can be the strongest forever, and none embody this sentiment like Yu Yu Hakusho’s Genkai.
It’s safe to say that if Izumi Curtis hadn’t been Ed and Al’s mentor in Fullmetal Alchemist, the story likely would have gone in a much darker direction.
Behind several anime protagonists are senseis who helped them reach greater heights. Either through detailed instruction or leading by example, these mentors acted as an exemplar their pupils could learn how to be the best from. Some of these overpowered instructors were undeniably better than others though, which is why they’ve made our list of the 10 anime senseis that we’d want to train with.
It’s inspiring to say the least, and makes it hard to look at Onizuka as anything less than an exemplary anime sensei.
Eikichi Onizuka is not a good person. He’s loud, crude, and got into teaching for all the wrong reasons. He frequently destroys the lives of others in his attempts to help people, and if it weren’t for anime logic, he’d have been arrested ten times over for all the chaos he has caused.
All of the sensei in Naruto are fairly powerful , as can be expected from a group of people who are meant to bring up the next generation of ninjas. Each of them has their own particular specialty, which makes them better suited to teach some students over others, but when they step into an actual battle, it’s clear just how strong many of them are.
8 Kurenai Yuhi. Kurenai is a relatively new jonin when she appears in the series as the sensei for Team 8. But she is well-regarded as a ninja, and Kakashi even trusts her to face off with members of the Akatsuki.
Tsunade’s skills as a ninja are mostly in medical jutsu, though that doesn’t stop her from being remarkably strong in battle. Medical jutsu requires a great deal of chakra control, which also allows her to use that control to do immense feats of strength, like punching a paved road and completely obliterating it.
This makes sense, as strong ninjas pass their abilities and knowledge down to their students. Kakashi, who trained under the Fourth Hokage as a genin, is a great example of this. He is well-known throughout the ninja world as the formidable Copy Ninja, who uses his Sharingan to copy the deadly moves of other ninjas.
Sasuke Uchiha is probably an unusual choice for a sensei. His stoic, standoffish attitude does not necessarily lend itself to him being someone who would teach another well. But Sasuke agrees to train Boruto after Boruto manages to successfully perform the Rasengan, his father’s jutsu. There’s no doubt that Sasuke is a notably powerful ninja, having trained under some of the most formidable shinobi in the world, and having the Uchiha clan talent no less.
Jiraiya is potentially the first truly powerful ninja that fans meet in the series. He seems absolutely unbeatable in the early battles he’s in, and the kinds of skills he imparts on Naruto are unlike anything else he’s learned.
Yamato doesn’t act as a sensei for very long, but he is vital to Naruto’s improvement of his Rasengan. Yamato has several very impressive ninjutsu that he uses throughout the series, particularly his Wood Release kekkei genkai, which allows him to grow vegetation on any surface.
