It's based off of a Hideyuki Kikuchi novel, so if you're into Vampire Hunter D you'll probably get a kick out of Wicked City. I would definitly recommend this to people who are in the middle of watching a really long heavy series who just need to veg out a little.

Ironically, Wicked City and Ninja Scroll are very similar. Those whom have seen Ninja Scroll first may feel as if they're watching it twice to a certain degree. For the reasons that the female lead Makie does serve a purpose, but she appears to be nothing more than a plot device to drive one rape scene after another despite her toughness.

Story: I actually missed the first 10 minutes of this suckfest so I don't know if I missed much of the plot or anything BUT I did miss some worldbuilding because the first 3 minutes is always spent on narrating for whatever crapsack world some shit like this is taking place in.

Had this on VHS as a double act with Monster City, which I have been unable to source on DVD. Better than I remembered I must say, with explicit sexual content and some amazing monster creations. A nice twist in the story coupled with original hand-drawn artwork makes for an entertaining 80 minutes of viewing - but not with the kids I must stress.
