Watch Wise Man's Grandchild | Netflix.
Unsurprisingly, the series eventually came to an end and left fans dealing with something of a cliffhanger going forward. With multiple storylines remaining unfinished, it's hard as a fan not to wonder about the series' source material.
Like many other anime, "Wise Man's Grandchild" was simulcast in both English and Japanese through Funimation and Crunchyroll (via Anime News Network).
Both male MCs are OP compared to other people mostly thanks to their cheats and previous world knowledge. The similarity of this anime Kenja no Mago is that both of them feature Japanese men who are sent/reincarnated into a fantasy world, and of course they both immediately become overpowered characters.
Another point in Wise Man's Grandchild's favour is that there is no harem of girls around Shin. Instead, the series has him and female student Sizilien (who he rescues from some thugs early on), slowly fall in love.
My first intentional foray into isekai was with Wise Man's Grandchild (Kenja no Mago), which aired April to June of 2019. It starts out with what I later found out is a pretty common trope among isekai series: a Joe Schmoe businessman type is killed in a random accident and immediately reincarnated in a fantasy realm.
The then-toddler Shin was found by Merlin Wolford who raised him as his own grandson with the help of his ex-wife Melinda, growing up to become an astonishingly versatile mage.

Sicily von ClaudeSicily von Claude (シシリー フォン クロード, Shishirī fon Kurōdo), called Sicily Wolford since Volume 12, is a member of Ultimate Magic Research Society who ranks 4th in the first year S-Class and she also becomes the fiancée of Shin Wolford.
Biological Magic/Adaptive Biology Magic. Shin has learned magic from both Magi Merlin and Guru Melinda. Merlin helped him learn to control magic power and chant less magic, while Melinda taught him everything she knew about enchantment magic.
Shin still has the memories of when he was a Japanese adult from his past life. He thinks it's that carriage incident that made him remember his past life, but he can't remember his previous name or how he died. He notes that the other world had no magic and this one does.
Shin may have been the most powerful wizard in 100 years, but he didn't know that his power was 1,000 times greater than the average magician. He had no sense of how the world worked and what society was like outside of the woods.
Funimation describes the adaptation of Tsuyoshi Yoshioka's fantasy novel series Kenja no Mago:
Director: Masafumi Tamura Series Composition: Tatsuya Takahashi Original creator: Tsuyoshi Yoshioka Original Character Design: Seiji Kikuchi Character Design: Yuki Sawairi Theme Song Performance: i☆Ris (OP)
If you asked this show, what it is, it would tell you that it doesn't know "Am I an Isekai? Only technically. Am I an SoL? For the most part. Am I a battle-shounen? I try to, but I fail miserably. Am I trying to be Konosuba? Yes, but I don't even get close." I do not mind a show bringing different genres together. Most shows do that, anyway.
Ok, first things first: as a general rule I do not like isekai anime. The idea is fun but most series in the genre are generic as hell and make me want to claw my eyes out just to stop watching them. There are some exceptions to the rule though and here's an ongoing list of them.
