Ufotable was flexing in every episode and the result was a beautiful piece of work that envelops a mediocre shonen. 100% agree with you on that bit about the exam, I never thought about it that way but yeah they are pretty much just sending the kids to die knowing the demon gets stronger therefore every exam gets harder as time goes on.
