Based on a manga series, Colorful is a series that focuses on the misadventures of men staring, peeking, glancing, looking, and glaring at women and their efforts to get that extra eyeful of harmlessly exposed panties, bras, and occasional cleavage and the outrageous consequences of their actions.
Based on the novel by Eto Mori, published in July 1998. Colorful won the award for Excellent Animation of the Year at the 34th Japan Academy Prize and was nominated for Animation of the Year.
Despite a wonderful opening sequence and captivating premise, Colorful turns out to be a mediocre disappointment that doesn't manage to attain much depth despite its attempts to do so.

Colorful had some pretty good quality as an anime movie. The animation for each movement was very fluid and each character was drawn clear, tiny details included. The character design was nothing too special (except PuraPura), but they were still drawn well and realistically enough for my liking.

I saw this movie on a reddit recommendation post somewhere and thought I'd give it a try, but after watching it and seeing the reviews on this site, I feel like a more balanced opinion is warranted. Colorful is a movie that doesn't know what it wants to be, who it wants its characters to be, or even who their target audience is.
