Jujutsu Kaisen is a shōnen manga by Gege Akutami, published in Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine since March 2018. An animated series adaptation produced by studio MAPPA aired between October 2020 and March 2021. The prequel manga Jujutsu Kaisen 0 also received an adaptation in the form of an anime film that aired in December 2021.
Akutami first published in 2017 a 4-chapter series in Shueisha 's Jump GIGA, titled Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical School, from April 28 to July 28, 2017. It was later published in a single volume, retroactively titled Jujutsu Kaisen 0, on December 4, 2018. Jujutsu Kaisen started in Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump on March 5, 2018.
At just four chapters, 0 is a fast-paced read that introduces a few key characters and events that crop up again in Jujutsu Kaisen. It’s easy to read it all in one go and get a sense for some core themes and conflicts of the setting.
Set in the Jujutsu Kaisen universe the film follows Yuta Okkotsu a high school student who is haunted by the cursed spirit of his childhood friend Rika Orimoto, and he enrols in Tokyo Jujutsu High School to learn to control her awesome power.
Chapter, 60, 61, 62, and 63. That Means just start reading chapter 64.
However, Jujutsu Kaisen 0: The Movie is the perfect gateway into the anime series, and that's by design. It's a prequel! This means not only do you learn about the lead character Yuta Okkotsu, but you learn about the world of the series and three of the series characters: Panda, Maki, and Toge.
So, why does Gojo wear a mask? Gojo needs to cover his eyes because using them would tire him out too quickly. He's got something called Six Eyes, which has been passed down in his family's bloodline. This is a rare type of ocular jujutsu.
“Jujutsu Kaisen 0,” which premiered in the United States on March 18, serves as a prequel to manga author Gege Akutami's popular shonen series “Jujutsu Kaisen.” The film follows 15-year-old Yuta Okkotsu after he is enrolled in the Tokyo Jujutsu Technical High.
Jujutsu Kaisen 0 was published first, in 2017, with the original title of Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical School.
Megumi Fushiguro, one of the first-year students alongside Yuji, has potential for incredible strength that is alluded to well in advance, so his moments of sudden growth feel like hard-earned achievements, not like arbitrarily new powers as the plot demands.
His sentence is suspended on the condition that he join Tokyo Jujutsu Tech to help find and consume the rest of Sukuna’s fingers so that when he is eventually executed, Sukuna will die with him.
While Yuji at first has some degree of control of his body to keep Sukuna in check, with each finger he consumes the weaker his control over Sukuna’s power becomes. And when the villains exploit this weakness, it culminates in one of the most gripping arcs of the story yet.
While the premise of JJK is grim, and the series isn’t shy about violence and body horror, it balances everything with plenty of action and humor. All of the main characters and many of the side characters have compelling motives and roles in the story.
Many have special jujuts u techniques while others, like Mai Zen’in, have little to no cursed energy. These characters have a Heavenly Restriction, which limits their cursed energy in exchange for greater physical prowess; they also often rely on using cursed tools to fight.
Now that season one of the anime has finished airing and a movie adaptation of Jujutsu Kaisen 0 has been announced, newcomers to the series might be wondering–what’s the best place to start?
Jujutsu Kaisen is a relatively new anime series. So far, the show has only one proper anime season, consisting of 24 episodes. The series is supplemented by a prequel movie, but no sequel anime has been produced yet. Still, Jujutsu Kaien is almost certainly going to get renewed, so these numbers are going to increase in the future.
High school student Yuuta Okkosu wants to be executed because he suffers from the actions of Rika Orimoto, the spiteful spirit that possesses her. Meanwhile, Satoru Gojou, a teacher who teaches exorcising “curses”, transfers Yuuta to Tokyo’s Higher Technical School of Jujutsu.
If you want to follow the plot, you should watch the movie before you see the anime series. The issue is that the movie does require some knowledge of the franchise’s lore, which makes it a bit difficult to follow if you don’t know anything about Jujutsu Kaisen.
As far as new content is concerned, Jujutsu Kaisen will certainly return after the movie. The show itself is extremely popular and there is still a lot of manga material to adapt, so we don’t have any doubts at all that Jujutsu Kaisen is going to return. When exactly? That, we do not know, but we assume it won’t be too much of a wait.
