He recommended that I start at chapter 9, then changed it to 11, because apparently the beginning is a time skip that spoils something for the middle of the story? Idk. Just want to hear some other opinions in where to start reading, like from the beginning, chapter 11, or to watch the show and then read the manga.

This series is a direct continuation of the Golden Arc trilogy of 'Berserk' films. These films are a condensed version of the 1997 series that was based on the manga of the same name.
The Animation Thankfully, Berserk was given what many agree to be the best animated adaptation it's seen so far right out of the gate. Many fans of Berserk have been fans for years, but even newer fans still find that retro 90s look to be nostalgic. It reminds many of the early Toonami days.
The 1997 series broadly follows the manga story but is missing a few key plot points (such as the character that resolves the situation at the end of that series, paving the way to the current series). The recent Berserk movie series is a retelling of the same story as the 1997 series.

The epicenter of this theme is, of course, Griffith, a man who came from little and strives for his very own kingdom. Griffith is strikingly beautiful and effeminate, with long, white hair and intensely blue eyes. He isn't traditionally masculine in any sense other than his overwhelming prowess on the battlefield.
The final chapter of Berserk, 364 is finally out. Thus ending publication for the foreseeable future. Thank you all for following the series and this page for so long. While it is tragic to see it end like this, it was still a journey we'll hold dear to our hearts until the end.
When it comes to the Berserk anime adaptations, things get a little tricky. First off, depending on how you count it, there are three different major adaptions of Berserk by three different animation studios. Second, not all arcs have been adapted, and with the material that is adapted, many parts of the manga are cut out ...
On Funimation, the second and third films are available to stream, both subbed and dubbed versions, but for some reason not the first. Thankfully, Netflix has all three films available to stream, both subbed and dubbed. Lastly, on Prime Video, while not available for free through the Amazon Prime subscription, all three films can be rented ...
In anticipation of this, Berserk is definitely a series worth starting or restarting (despite the frequent hiatuses and irregular release schedule), and there are several options available to do so legally.
The following is the recommended viewing order for Berserk. Side note: In certain circumstances, the newest season may be considered two independent seasons with 12 episodes each, extending the series to three seasons. For the sake of simplicity, we shall consider the series to have only two seasons in this article.
The movies contribute significantly to the development of the characters and the exploration of numerous backstories. Avoid skipping any of them, including the OVA.
Oriental Light and Magic translated and separated the manga into a twenty-five-episode anime television series spanning the series’ Golden Age arc from 1997 to 1998. The Golden Age Arc is a trilogy of films that began in 2012. Following that, the second anime television version aired in 2016 and 2017 for a total of twenty-four episodes.
Berserk suffers from a significant time gap between its seasons, films, and OVA. Due to this time gap, it is critical to watch Berserk in order, and as such, I would urge that you carefully adhere to the chronological order outlined above.
Berserk is almost certain to return to our screens in the future. According to rumors, Berserk Season 3 will launch sooner than anticipated. Additionally, its authors have hinted at the possibility of a sequel being renewed. Thus, we may anticipate Berserk Season 3 in April 2022.
This first animated version of the series was worked on by Oriental Light and Magic with Naohito Takahashi working as a director. This version adapts the "Black Swordsman" and "Golden Age" arcs . The series revolves around Guts looking back at his days with the Band of the Hawk mercenary group, led by Griffith.
Technically, this series is sometimes considered the second season of the 2016 series, although it is sometimes considered a separate series. This version adapted the Hawk of the Millennium Empire arc of the manga.
Berserk: Every Anime Adaptation (In Chronological Order) The world of Berserk, all taking place in a fantasy world resembling medieval Europe, has received quite a few anime adaptations over the years. The 1997 covers the eclipse arc, which is a prequel to the current events of Berserk and shows Guts' life that lead to the events that the main story of Berserk is about. But it ended with just only 25 episodes.
Berserk (1997) was the first Gore genre anime I watched. It is one of my favourite till date. Berserk - The golden age Arc (2012–2013) which consisted of three movies were more of an alternate version of the '97 season. The studio did a neat job with beymtter 3D type animation and it wasn't that bad.
Generally, for Berserk, it's recommended to simply read the manga. Now if I were You, The 1997 version of Berserk is probably where I would start. It has that old anime art style (that I personally love) and does the opening of the Berserk story, known as 'The Golden Age' arc.
But the 2016 anime (Berserk) is a sequel and the movies are an alternate version of the old series. Old one and movie are the same part of the manga, the Golden Age arc. You can watch whichever you want. Didn't watch the movie, but the series very much shortens the introduction arc from the manga.
You should start from the very very beginning. The 90s anime is basically the same stuff as the Warner Bros triology: The Golden Arc. There is a new anime series of like 2017, but it's very very disappointing. You'll miss a lot if you're not reading the manga, as no anime as of now covers everything. 4.8K views.
