Berserk manga by Kentaro Miura is one of the best saga I have ever seen, great script, great dialogues, great characters and all what mankind have to offer : from best to worst. But Berserk manga is actually very dark, very harsh, violent, and humanity got an ugly side, a real ugly one. This movie does a great job to introduce the Golden Age Arc.
Why Should You Not Watch It?
What the Heck Happened to Berserk?
There’s only one order in which the Berserk movies should be watched and it’s the following:
If you only watch the 1997 Berserk anime, you will want to pick up at Chapter 87 in the manga. If you watched the trilogy movies that cover roughly the same period, you can pick up a little later as they included Skull Knight. This means you can start a Chapter 88 in the manga.
If you have just watched the original 1997 Berserk anime and want to take the story from there, you can skip the Golden era arc (Volumes 3-14, Chapters 1 - 94).
The Anime covers Volumes 1 (Chapters 1 and 2, though fused into Chapter 1 along with reference to later Chapters in Volume 2), the end chapter of Volume 3 (where Gambino discovers Guts at a tree of execution), Volumes 4 through 10 and then Volumes 12 and 13 in the manga.
The anime series just cover about 120 chapters out of 333 chapters of the original manga! and the anime is with less details. The manga is still ongoing, it is not finished and has been postponed for some years cause the writer was busy with another manga. I don't know if he starts writing berserk again or not!
This series is a direct continuation of the Golden Arc trilogy of 'Berserk' films. These films are a condensed version of the 1997 series that was based on the manga of the same name.
Berserk: The Prototype is the precursor to and basis for Berserk, and is not part of the official canon. It was made in 1988, while Kentarou Miura was still in college.
Berserk fans are finally close to getting Chapter 364 of the popular manga series. The upcoming chapter will presumably end the series; however, there's a small chance that the Berserk manga might continue. Written and illustrated by Kentaro Miura, Berserk is a popular Japanese manga that began in 1989.
Puck is cut because, despite being a major character, he had no role in the Golden Age Arc except for a brief cameo; In the Black Swordsman Arc, Puck was introduced being tormented in a tavern by the Snake Baron's thugs, but in the anime they are shown abusing a girl and her father (here, her grandfather) who ...
After years of hearing about Berserk I finally settled down and binged the entire run in two nights.
As a result, most of the gruesome and risque moments of Berserk are completely censored, which is bound to irritate anyone who wanted the most authentic experience with this manga.
Berserk is known for traumatizing its readers, and Casca's fate during the Eclipse is the manga at its most terrifying and heart-wrenching. Instead of devouring her, the Apostles brutally assault Casca before handing her to Femto (a.k.a. a reborn Griffith), who then repeats the process, except worse.
Any fan of the Berserk series will immediately confess that the manga is indeed far superior to the anime. Be it in terms of art or narrative, any lover of the series will make a beeline for the original source, while enthusiastically praising the late Miura Kentaru's stunning artwork.
The 1997 covers the eclipse arc, which is a prequel to the current events of Berserk and shows Guts' life that lead to the events that the main story of Berserk is about. But it ended with just only 25 episodes.
Berserk (1997) was the first Gore genre anime I watched. It is one of my favourite till date. Berserk - The golden age Arc (2012–2013) which consisted of three movies were more of an alternate version of the '97 season. The studio did a neat job with beymtter 3D type animation and it wasn't that bad.
Him writing Giganto Makhia was for him to take a break from the work he had spent over 20 years making. No matter how much you may be passionate about your job, doing it for over 20 years will mentally drain you, and even more so if the work you're writing is a dark and psychologically heavy one such as Berserk.
Generally, for Berserk, it's recommended to simply read the manga. Now if I were You, The 1997 version of Berserk is probably where I would start. It has that old anime art style (that I personally love) and does the opening of the Berserk story, known as 'The Golden Age' arc.
But the 2016 anime (Berserk) is a sequel and the movies are an alternate version of the old series. Old one and movie are the same part of the manga, the Golden Age arc. You can watch whichever you want. Didn't watch the movie, but the series very much shortens the introduction arc from the manga.
You should start from the very very beginning. The 90s anime is basically the same stuff as the Warner Bros triology: The Golden Arc. There is a new anime series of like 2017, but it's very very disappointing. You'll miss a lot if you're not reading the manga, as no anime as of now covers everything. 4.8K views.
Continue Reading. Unlike the comic industry in other countries, in Japan, comic authors have a lot of power. That means that most likely, berserk belongs mostly to its author if not completely, and the company that was publishing berserk can’t do anything to continue it.
I never understand such questions... Anime is anime, movies are movies and manga is manga. They're all different beasts. Read manga from Volume 1, because you'll miss some very important parts of the story. Manga is first and foremost canon and you should read it before watching anime or movies, but anyway...
Manga is first and foremost canon and you should read it before watching anime or movies, but anyway... READ IT ALL. Berserk is the best manga to the date and some even argue that it's the best comic book ever made... and they might be right. Read it all, from the beginning, I repeat. Otherwise you'll miss a lot.
It’s one of the questions which makes people confused. Let me clear it up. Berserk 1997 was the first animation of Berserk, which was in OG Old School Style animation. This was later adapted in 3 different movies with the new art style in 2012 and 2013.
Let’s get one thing straight, this anime is not any average anime. It might give you nightmares, so watch it over your own risk. It’s not a warning; I’m just telling you that it contains inappropriate scenes which are not suitable for everyone.
Season two starts with the reunion of Guts and Griffith, which was not peaceful. Guts tried to fight Griffith but ended up fighting Zodd, who is the companion of Griffith. Later, Griffith and Zodd left. Griffith said he was going to gain his Kingdom back.
So, if you watched the anime, then you might have wondered who Griffith is, right? This movie is going to tell how Guts and Griffith met and became allies. Well, no wonder Gut’s can draw anyone’s attention towards him. Guts defeated Bazuso, also known as “Grey Knight,” then the Band of Hawk and Griffith acknowledged him.
This movie is full of bloodshed as it says, “The Battle for Doldrey.” At first, Guts was an ally of Griffith. However, he wanted to be equal to him to do that. Guts left Band of Hawk. At that same time, a war was about to begin. Where the Band of Hawk has to face an army of 30,000 soldiers.
This was the last movie, and it was the story after the legendary duel between Guts and Griffith. Guts left the Band of Hawk. However, Guts returns to free Griffith from the Tower of Rebirth, where he’s been tortured mentally and physically.
Well, it’s nothing much, so let’s just keep it small. Basically, this isn’t even an OVA. This was the recap of two seasons of Berserk. So, if it’s been long and you watched Berserk a long time ago, this might unlock your memory. It’s not bad, but it’s just a recap.
