Based on the best-selling shoujo manga by Yoshiki Nakamura, Skip Beat showcases the growth of a young woman who slowly unlearns how to work herself to the bone for the satisfaction of others and takes her future into her own hands instead. Crunchyroll officially streamed the anime with English subtitles.
Both series are hilarious (and contain almost identical types of humor), but can still manage to be sweet and heartwarming (especially Skip Beat ). Galadriel says...
Somehow, the temperamental animation quality seems utterly perfect for Skip Beat. The bishies are just a little too elongated, Kyoko’s eyes take up about 50% of her face, and exaggerated reactions are ridiculously over the top, but isn’t this the manga way?
Anime. The anime adaptation was directed by Kiyoko Sayama and animated by Hal Film Maker, it began airing in Japan on October 5, 2008 and ended on March 29, 2009.
The series was released in North America on Blu-Ray and DVD by Pied Piper in 2017 with an English dub, which was the result of a successful Kickstarter campaign.
The focus on Kyoko's growth as an actress is a compelling and enjoyable story worth seeing throughout Skip Beat's 25-episode run, alongside other characters in stardom who interact with her. If you're a shoujo anime fan, this is worth a definite look.
Glass no Kamen is more serious than Skip Beat and does not have the weird-ish sense of humor, but in my opinion it is one of the best shoujo anime I have watched. Both of the mangas are still unfinished, but both are still worth reading. Kaichou wa Maid-sama! Forceful main girls, and both have a vulnerable sides.
(2017) The English dub was released to Kickstarter backers in October 2017, and received a wide retail release on June 26, 2018.

To err is to be human and to quote a man famed for peace (guess who said it): “It is better to be violent if there is violence in our hearts, than to put on the cloak of non-violence to cover impotence.”. Long story short, if futility fills you with hate, it’s best to release it than to keep it bottled up.
Using the noble excuse of revenge to forge her career in show business, Kyoko doesn’t have things easy and this is one of Skip Beat’s strongest points; she doesn’t become an instant darling of the stars, and her temperamental nature make things even worse for her career but also shows her human side.
MoonlightMeika says. Both Uta Pri and Skip Beat follow their main character (Haruka and Kyoko, respectively) as they build the foundation to their future career. Haruka and Kyoko both had slight set backs at the beginning but managed to stick wtih their dream and their efforts have paid off.

Skip Beat and Lovely Complex both have the same type of over done humor that can't help but make you laugh. If you enjoyed Kyoko's hilarious emotions you will love the comedy of Lovely Complex.
