The Renaissance Waverly is the AWA host hotel – registration for the convention is available on the second floor, and various events will be held there in addition to the Cobb Galleria. The Anime Music Video contest in 2001 had 200 plus entries. The AMV contest in 2003 took over three hours and had 300 plus entries. The Dealer's Room took up 72,000 square feet in 2007. Cartoon Network announced the end of its Toonami block during a panel at Anime Weekend Atlanta 2008.

In order to protect their own safety and that of others, AWA attendees understand, agree, and consent that designated AWA representatives or public safety personnel throughout the convention have an absolute right to inspect costumes, weapons , and any other items, and that attendee will submit to such an inspection. Any attendee must submit their costumes, weapons, and other items to an immediate inspection upon request or must leave the convention. In the event a person declines to submit to an inspection and refuses to leave, they shall be immediately expelled from the convention and escorted off the premises.
AWA is a family friendly convention, so parents with young children will be present. Be aware that not everybody (including parents, hotel and convention staff, and local law enforcement) are anime and manga fans, so they may question if your costume is appropriate. You may be asked to change your costume.
