Will Citrus Have Season 2? Sad news for Citrus fans, Studio Passione has not renewed Citrus for Season 2 yet. Despite having a huge fan base for the Yuri series, the anime adaptation received low ratings and a couple of not-so-favorable critical reviews on IMDB and MyanimeList.
Yes, it has sexual themes, but it wasn't “written by men for men.” And again, I am a girl. The most unforgiving aspect of Citrus is its tendency to emphasize sexual assault. In the very first episode, Mei forces down Yuzu and kisses her. The anime community was not happy about this.
The Yuri Citrus manga first began serializing in Comic Yuri Hime back in 2012. Written and illustrated by mangaka Saburouta, the ongoing manga series apparently gets its name from the fact that the Yuzu fruit is a sour citric hybrid (the juice makes a vinaigrette or the Japanese ponzu dipping sauce).
Will there be a second season of Citrus? As of June 12, 2022, at the time of writing, neither studio Passione, manga publisher Ichijinsha, nor any related company renewed the second season's anime. There is also no cancellation yet.

Overall, the anime is very entertaining and for a drama about Yuri, it is very well done. If the thought of watching an anime about Yuri REALLY bothers you, then don't watch it. If you choose to not watch, you'll really be missing out on an excellent drama.

It has also been licensed in Germany, Thailand, and Taiwan. A sequel manga series, Citrus Plus (stylized as citrus+ ), launched on December 18, 2018.

‘Citrus’ Season 1 premiered on January 6, 2018 and went on till March 24, 2018. This 12-episode anime series is adapted from a Japanese Yuri Manga series written and illustrated by Saburouta. Till date, the manga has had a total of 36 chapters and the author has been consistently releasing new volumes every four to six months. Most of the manga readers love how closely the anime is adapted and how every detail in the manga has been covered. That’s partially the reason why this show has been accepted so well by most viewers. Even the pacing of the anime is almost like the manga and it ends exactly how the 4th volume of the source material concludes.
So, our best guess is that ‘Citrus’ Season 2 might only release sometime after 2020. Till then, if you’re dying to know more about how its story unfolds, you can start reading the manga.
Citrus Season 2: Premiere Date, Characters, Plot. On the outside, ‘Citrus’ is an anime about an incestuous lesbian relationship, which is quite a common theme for many adult anime these days. But most people fail to look beyond its basic premise and overlook what it truly tires to offer. While it does have scenes that portray assaults, ...
Yuzu Aihara is the main protagonist of the series and is also the older stepsister of Mei Aihara. She looks extremely beautiful with her dyed chestnut blond hair and emerald green eyes. She is also known for her amazing sense of fashion and stays updated with all the latest trends. She is rebellious, bold and outspoken and often customizes her uniform in her own ways which usually clashes with the school norms. This gets her into a lot of trouble and even leads her into having a lot of clashes with the Student’s Council. Since she does not have any experiences with relationships, she tries to cover it up by ranting about them all the time.
What the HELL did I just watch? Positives first, fantastic animation and sound quality. I watched the dub, and the voice acting was pretty good. So props to the studio (Passione)... But those were the best aspects of the anime. Everything else falls very short. I mean really short.
I'm here for the EDS group watch. Anyways, I kind of liked this series, but it was maybe a little too melodramatic at times. I also didn't like Matsuri, and while I don't hate Mei she did frustrate me at times. That said, I liked the animation and despite it's flaws I still got some enjoyment from this series.
The Citrus manga is currently up to Citrus Chapter 36, which Saburouta says was released in Japan as part of Citrus Volume 9 on March 23, 2018. In recent years, a new volume has come out every four to six months, but Citrus Volume 10 has not yet been announced for 2018.

The ending of Volume 4 of the Citrus manga has Yuzu literally jumping out and giving her confession to Mei. However, Mei is not willing to reciprocate by also confessing her love, so that issue will be the major theme for the second season. The story for the anime Citrus Season 2 will pick up in Chapter 17 when the two girls finally own up to their feelings and try to start dating.
The anime showed Yuzu gal-ing it up in Episode 1 while the manga opened at the school gates. The locations for some of the conversations were changed, and some extra character-building scenes were added. Some events were shifted around.
Ranking number eight on the Oricon charts, the first week sales of Citrus Volume 1 were only 1,124 copies sold. Convention wisdom holds that an anime needs to sell 3,000 copies on average, but streaming services like Crunchyroll and Netflix have changed the financial paradigm for the better.
The title of Chapter 16 is "My Love Goes On And On," which also happens to the be the anime episode's title. That leaves 20 chapters for creating Citrus Season 2, not including side stories that could mainly into episodes.
Their next project that's been announced publicly is Z/X Code Reunion, which is slated for an October 2019 release date.
