Toriko is a battle Shounen while Food Wars is a mix of Slice of Life and shounen. Anime that follows the usual battle shounen tropes, but with one twist - the plot is all about food and cooking. While Shokugeki no Souma battles are chef duels, Toriko battles are mostly about getting the cooking ingredients.
As far as shonen anime goes, the show built itself on the formula of the main male protagonist, hero's journey and support girls, or harem anime. Compared to similar shows like “Naruto Shippuden,” “Food Wars” focused on the ladies' motivations and backstories, rather than putting them on the bench.
J.C. Staff's Shokugeki no Soma, or more popularly known as Food Wars!, has gained plenty of traction in the anime world since its first season debuted in 2015.
An anime on food sure piqued my interest. It was good enough for binge-watch, the highlight is the display of one scrumptious dish after another. The animation is really good in displaying the dishes, from presentation, to aroma, to inside filling, it's able to capture the essence of well-made dishes.
FOOD WARS is considered an “ecchi” anime. “Ecchi” is a Japanese slang word for playfully sexual elements, usually in an anime. This takes form in lots of “fan service” i.e. partially nude characters. While anime is generally imbued with an unnecessary amount of female sexualization, FOOD WARS almost parodied the idea.

Food Wars: Shokugeki no Soma is one of the best anime in its genre and is well on its way to becoming a classic. The series brings us entertainment not just through storytelling but also through its amazing characters. The show displays some beautiful animation and soundtracks.
"Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma” is a manga and anime series that is popular both in Japan and abroad.
The answer to this question is both yes and no. Yes, since it has the generic shonen trope of “Protagonist is OP.” And no, because even though the protagonist is OP, he does have decent character growth, and also, the main concept of the anime is entirely different.
Nope, Food Wars has officially ended. The main source material that is the manga, was completed back in 2019. The Fifth Plate also concludes at the same point that the manga did. But there were some specials released after the end. So, one can hope for those specials to be released in the form of OVA.
Yes, that is doable. But it is not recommended to do so. That’s because the OVAs are released after each season is finished. So the story and timeline are synced with the prior season. Thus, if you watch it all at the end, you might miss a few exciting snippets.
Though I joked that Food Wars is all about Foodgasms, it is an excellent anime to enjoy. The writing, the art style all are captivating. In fact, I learned a lot about cooking after watching this anime.
Fans whose favorite character was Megumi in Food Wars will probably enjoy Yumeiro Patissiere. Ichigo Amano loves eating cakes, but she has no mentionable talents—or, at least, so she thinks. When she met the famous patissier Henri Lucas, it turns out that she, in fact, has an impeccable sense of taste.
Food Wars! was remarkably popular because it appealed to foodie anime lovers, as well as to those who enjoy slice-of-life anime shows. Most fans got strongly attached to the characters and rooted for them to succeed. Soma Yukihira and the other hero Chefs’ adventures at the Totsuki Saryo Culinary Institute captivated fans.
This mouth-watering Shounen anime is a great match for fans who loved all the cooking in Food Wars. The series follows Mao, whose restaurant owner mother passed away. Mao wants to become a master chef in order to take over and run the restaurant.

However, Ristorante Paradiso also has some truly mouth-watering dishes and great character development just like Food Wars. Nicoletta’s mother abandoned her daughter and found happiness in Italy. Fifteen years later, Nicoletta decides to chase her mother down and make her pay for all the pain she caused.
Fans are still hoping for a spin-off, but, until then, there are a number of great foodie anime series and other shows set in schools that are similar to this fan-favorite.

This is without doubt the most delicious ecchi show I’ve ever watched. It’s full of heart, food, and an amazing storyline. It’s a must-watch show. It’s sort of like Bleach, with a touch of Ecchi added because of reactions to Bankai in the dish once it is eaten.

Food Wars and Yakitate Japan are extremely similar in presetning a progressive story of a food genious to figth through culinary school with mindshattering foodst uffs. Furthermore, the way the reactions to food are given are similar in that they are over the top and extremely expressive.
LadyPsychic says... Both series involve the main characters cooking in tournaments (though Yakitate focuses on bread, while Food Wars involves all kinds of food). There is also plenty of over-the-top reactions to food in both series (though the reactions in Food Wars is alot more lewd).
Japan is about a boy who dreams of creating a bread worthy enough of the name 'Japan'. It's funny and has some over the top reactions that, although are no where near as risque as Shokugeki, the reactions are absolutely hilarious and are sure to leave you in tears from laughing so hard! xD.
The main difference would be the main characters and the fact one is about all types of food and one is only about bread. The Main characters are different, in the sense for the bread show he's still very young, and it shows in his personality, very honest, sweet, and trusting but a little dumb for a genuis.
Yukihira has no formal culinary training but shows that he is still a formidable opponent in cooking competitions. Food wars does have a lot more fan service, with characters' clothes regularly bursting off, that would be the only thing I would caution people on. However, the shows do give off the same vibe.
While Koufuku Graffiti features a mainly female cast, Shokugeki no Souma is more of an adventurous dive into the competitive world of food with a more diverse range of characters. memojuez says... Food is the central theme to both shows, QED, but the similarities do not end there.

Cooking Master Boy. As old as it may be, Cooking Master Boy is one of the trailblazers of cooking/food anime. As a matter of fact, it’s one of its own genre that may have been the first for many people. And so, it’s not surprising that it garnered so much attention in the past.

Yumeiro Patissiere is a lot like Food Wars, but it’s a lot more adorable and less stressful. Yumeiro Patissiere is a good choice for fans of Megumi from Food Wars.
