The music goes perfectly with the anime and sometimes it's happy, but generally it's creepy, psychotic, mysterious and makes you very nervous and scared, but it's also beautifully done. The opening theme will capture you and drag you in and you will have it stuck in your head non-stop and trust me, that is a good thing because it is awesome!

There is plenty of violent horror anime. Genocyber, Elfen Lied, Corpse Party, and the infamous visual novel Saya no Uta are all incredibly gory -- far gorier than Higurashi. But Higurashi endures where they fade due not to its gore, but due to its mystery and psychological horror.

The anime is based around at detective name Rin, who is immortal.
In the very first episode, the anime takes a sudden turn into human cloning, and the story that unfolds from there only gets more and more harrowing. Some of the topics in RIN are disturbing in the physical and psychological sense, and shouldn't be watched by the faint of heart.

Rika dying is what usually kicks off the Great Hinamizawa Disaster, which in turn leads to the destruction of that universe or timeline’s Hinamizawa. Though Rika merely abandons these failed outcomes and moves on to the next, it always comes at the cost of her dying.
Satoshi is MIA for most of the series. His absence is cause for a lot of the tension and conflict among the main cast. Rika's Adult Voice: Rika gives one of her longest dialogues to another character not Hanyū. Irie is taken aback by her maturity. In the Sound Novels, characters will remark on Rika's curious changes in character, but like in the anime and manga adaptations they do not seem to understand that an adult woman is speaking to them.
