Kakegurui takes place in Hyakkaou Private Academy, a prestigious school where the student are the most wealthy and privileged students in all of Japan. I use the term school lightly because there seems to be no actual classes or learning happening, instead the school is more like a gambling den, where every student partakes in gambling.

Everything is based on money and gambling, and those with high amounts of money are allowed to do anything to those in debt, or those who lost bets. Students willfully destroyed other peoples' lives for fun due to this policy. This is MAPPA studio's first venture into a truly emotionally warped anime.
Kakegurui is unique itself from its setup of the school. Normally, school animes are about high school life, romance and other stuffs, but here, competition is a must. That's what makes Kakegurui a worth-to-watch anime this season because of its characters focusing on one goal....Reviews.Overall8Character8Enjoyment83 more rows
Animation series Kakegurui is a multi-media series that began with the manga, Kakegurui - Compulsive Gambler, written by Homura Kawamoto and illustrated by Tooru Naomura on March 22, 2014. The manga is published monthly in the Square Enix's Gangan Joker.
All the school girls during moments of gambling are shown to be aroused and are visibly (and graphically) orgasming – this happens throughout the series and as the episodes go on you begin to realise that not only is it wholly unnecessary, but it is a completely misogynistic way of viewing the female body.
While many of the characters feel more genuine within their sexuality, it's the same thing that's harming them. There are heavy implications that the housepets of the series are often abused, physically and sexually. One unlucky gambler lives in fear of the student she is indebted to.
The violence is fairly infrequent, and not very detailed, but it is but it is typically really intense when it does happen.
Though its premise revolves on Hyakkaou Academy's complex, gambling-themed social structure, "Kakerugui" is still a high school drama at heart, and as such, there's always a bit of romance lingering on the background.
Rated 15 for strong threat, sex references Kakegurui×× is the second season of a Japanese anime series revolving around the school Hyakkaou Private Academy, where gambling is the favorite activity of its wealthy students.

Starting from a manga which engages in the common trope of the high-school environment, Kakegurui takes a different direction in that the characters aren't fighting or creating some sort of unofficial harem but, instead, the focus is gambling and the drama and competition which this creates.
Unlike many schools, attending Hyakkaou Private Academy prepares students for their time in the real world. Since many of the students are the children of the richest people in the world, the academy has its quirks that separate it from all the others. By day, it is a normal school, educating its pupils in history, languages, and the like.

Hyakkaou Private Academy. An institution for the privileged with a very peculiar curriculum. You see, when you're the sons and daughters of the wealthiest of the wealthy, it's not athletic prowess or book smarts that keep you ahead. It's reading your opponent, the art of the deal.
Yumeko's surname, Jabami, can be translated to have any number of meanings; as the first kanji can mean "snake/serpent" or "hard drinker" and the second kanji translates to "eat", "drink", or "to receive a blow". The likeliest translation of her surname is "snake eater". Her first name, Yumeko, translates to "dream child".
The premise is betrayed almost immediately, since everybody gambles because they are addicted to gambling, and not because they risk everything for a better life, like in Kaiji.Down to it, the series is fairly one-note. There is no variety in personalities, since everybody is the same closet psychopath.
