The details are plain and the CG is anime usual, bad! In regards to the animation, the battles are fun and executed OK. However, there are way too many lengthy scenes where still frames and filler audio are used to encapsulate the audience, which typically doesn't succeed in any anime, not just this one.

Fusou's name is mispronounced as "Foo-soo". Kick Chick: Sheffield's melee combat moves in episode 4 primarily involves kicks, with one high kick that causes Akagi to blush.
Hammann, a ship with no real importance in the plot of the games, has a slightly increased role. She's a Butt-Monkey like San Diego, but is usually one for Hornet's amusement than anything. Edinburgh and Sheffield have a really big role compared to the game.
There's no mention or appearance of the Commander, who is a major character in the game. The closest to one shown is a manjuu reenacting Pearl Harbor. Going into Azur Lane, I had zero expectations of finishing the anime (or even getting further than a few episodes). With that said, we all know what was inevitable with an anime adaptation of a popular gacha game where you collect anime boat girls: there is a boatload of fanservice.
