After the Hunter x Hunter’s creator, Togashi
Yoshihiro Togashi is a Japanese manga artist. He began drawing manga at an early age; while he attended college, the publishing company Shueisha recognized his talent. Togashi has authored numerous manga series in different genres during the past three decades. He is perh…
Back in 1999, the popular manga got an anime adaptation that was short-lived. Hunter x Hunter continued to be published under creator Yoshihiro Togasha after the show ended before Madhouse scooped up the series for an adaptation in 2011. This new series was received much better, and it ran until 2014 as the anime neared the manga’s current point.
The Hunter x Hunter anime started airing from 2011 to 2014, and with a total of 148 episodes, it covered the manga up to chapter 339. After that, however, the anime went into a prolonged hiatus.
5 The Hunter x Hunteranime has concluded after 148 episodes. However, the manga continues on after this, focusing on new characters and events. If I want to pick up the manga from where the anime left off, what chapter or volume should I start at?

7 Kurapika Took A Back Seat To His Co-Stars During The Chimera Ant Arc, But Manga Readers Haven't Forgotten His Scarlet Eyes. After serving as one of the protagonists of the Yorknew City Arc, fans were shocked when Kurapika disappeared from the main plot of HxH for the entirety of the Greed Island and Chimera Ant Arcs.
While there's no return date for the Hunter x Hunter manga, we know from the author's own words that the Hunter x Hunter manga will continue. Togashi has consistently thanked fans for their patience while reaffirming his desire to finish the series.
Over the years, most of Hunter x Hunter has been on hiatus since its 1998 release. Its longest break lasted from 2014 to 2016, and its most recent hiatus ended earlier this year. For now, fans can only hope Togashi is serious about finishing Hunter x Hunter.
It will take awhile to untangled the ‘Succession Contest’ story, but Togashi could use the story as an exit point if he wishes. If Togashi doesn’t want to end the series so soon, he could streamline the series with a regular publishing schedule.
Over the years, the franchise has taken its fair amount of vacation, but Yoshihiro Togashi has the manga in print for the time being. And, if the creator is to be believed, he will try to keep it that way for awhile. After all, Togashi does hope the series will ...
It was time for the show to come to an end as episode 148 went live, and netizens were quick to spill their emotions about the ending.
Let me know in the comments or hit me up on Twitter @ MeganPetersCB to talk all things comics and anime! Hunter x Hunter was originally created by Yoshihiro Togashi for Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in 1998.
For those unaware of Hunter x Hun ter ’s history, it has a complicated tie with anime. Back in 1999, the popular manga got an anime adaptation that was short-lived. Hunter x Hunter continued to be published under creator Yoshihiro Togasha after the show ended before Madhouse scooped up the series for an adaptation in 2011.
The reason why Hunter x Hunter was not brought to an end, was because Togashi knows he has a lot of fans and he doesn’t want to let them down. Despite having all those health problems, Togashi occasionally forces himself to release a few chapters every so often in short bursts. This takes an extreme amount of effort and mental fortitude, before breaking again and going on hiatus.
The Hunter x Hunter anime concluded on episode 148 and covers up to Chapter 339. Hunter x Hunter manga is not that far ahead, at chapter 391 right now. With only 52 chapters ahead of the anime, there’s really not much to be adapted. Currently, the manga is in the Dark Continent arc, although just barely started.
Gon, in his Adult Transformation, would utterly and absolutely crush Hisoka into paste.
Finally, it happened during Hunter x Hunter. He could no longer cope with the cancerous Japanese work ethics - and it killed him on the inside. Togashi is currently trying to recover both physically (he suffers from neck and spinal issues due to sitting down and drawing manga all day for more than a decade) and mentally, more specifically anxiety which is a serious psychological problem.
Hisoka’s a very gifted character, and his combative aptitude is extremely impressive even when compared to the higher-tiered characters in the verse, however when put against something even the demons would fear, his only hope would be to accept his fate.
Now, there’s Killua - he’s one of the most protective friends you could have. When he finds out that Gon, though he wants to keep going on adventures soon, has lost his Nen, hoo boy he’s gonna freak out. Half the reason he was able to leave Gon is that he’s stronger now, since he’s had experience and was healed by Alluka. Now, Gon’s healthy, but it’s as if all his experience with Nen has Gon (haha see what I did there that was originally a typo) to waste.
The real reason why the anime is on hiatus is due to the utter lack of material. After the Hunter x Hunter’s creator, Togashi Yoshihiro, had to discontinue working on the series for a while, there have been no new chapters since 2018, and the anime has almost caught up to the manga. Now, one of the redeeming factors of Hunter x Hunter is ...
II. Manga. The last Hunter x Hunter chapter 390th was released in October 2018. Since then, there has been no news or updates about a new installment. The current arc, called the “Succession Contest,” is still not even halfway done and has ways to go.
The Hunter x Hunter anime concluded its run with episode 148 in 2014. The latest episode covers up to Chapter 339, while the manga itself is only at chapter 391 right now.
Togashi Yoshihiro, the creator of Hunter x Hunter, is currently suffering from chronic back pain. Better put, its a medical condition called Lumbago that impacts the joints and muscles in the lower back.
The first chapter was published in March 1998 in the 14th Shonen Jump issue of that year, continuing for 280 chapters, after which it was on hiatus till its re-serialization in August 2011.
The series has missed the past 63 issues of Weekly Shonen Jump, and the only thing that’s keeping our hopes up is Togashi’s promise and determination in finishing the series once and for all.
