Izuku Midoriya or Deku is currently 16 years old. He was born on July 15, and his Zodiac sign is Cancer. Season 1 started with Midoriya being 14 years old and after he met his idol and Japan's greatest hero, All Might, he was training for 10 months. By the time he enters UA, he is already 15 years old.
The full name of Deku and co.'s school in Japanese is "雄英高等学校 (Yuuei High School)." Those first two kanji at the beginning of the school's name, "雄英," are spoken as "yuuei," which conveniently sounds like "U.A." This is clearer in Japanese, but the word for "hero" uses the same kanji: "英雄,” which reads as "eiyuu." This ...

3 Katsuki Bakugo (15+ Years-Old) Katsuki Bakugo is one of My Hero's main characters and a first-year at U.A. High School. Like his classmates, Katsuki is 15 years old, and his birthday falls on April 20th. He's introduced as Deku's childhood friend, but he's more like a bully.
Midoriya refers to Bakugo as "Kacchan." In turn, Bakugo refers to Midoriya as "Deku." They each seem to be comfortable with these names, as they both use them and allow them to be used throughout My Hero Academia.
In chapter 245 of the manga, Midoriya calls Todoroki by his name; "Shoto".
Himiko was born as the eldest daughter of the Toga family. When she was a child, likely due to her Quirk, Himiko showcased a rather disturbing and morbid interest in blood. She once brought a dead, bloodied bird to her parents and cheerfully asked them if it was "pretty," which in turn scarred and disturbed them.
There's long been a bit of confusion among some My Hero Academia fans over what U.A.'s name is supposed to mean in the original Japanese, but the answer is clear if you know what to look for: series creator Kohei Horikoshi was simply having fun with double meanings, and not just in his native language.
At first glance, it may seem that translators took "yuuei" too literally, and mistakenly thought that the characters were saying the English letters "U" and "A." But this was no error. It's clear from the manga and anime's art that the letters U.A. really are a part of all this, creating a bilingual double meaning.
In order to understand the different meanings of the word Deku, we need to learn about the bitter-sweet relationship between Bakugo and Midoriya.
Now, we need to get a little technical and talk about the dictionary meaning of Deku. If we look closely, we come up with two meanings for the word “Deku”. The first one is as simple as it sounds: “A Puppet”. The second one refers to “Someone who’s useless” or “Good-for-nothing”.
Uraraka is our cheerful and Bubbly Gravity hero who’s always bursting with energy. Seeking the best possible outlook on everything, she’s very optimistic and laid-back.
We’ve talked about how Bakugo meant nothing but insult by calling Midoriya Deku because according to him he’s a useless and “quirkless” person. Midoriya didn’t like the name at first but still chose to stick with Bakugo to get stronger and more and more like him.
With the new season airing, My Hero Academia is back with some crazy hype and the glory it deserves. We hope that our explanation of the word “Deku” has helped you with understanding it better. We’ll be coming back with some more interesting things and their explanations. Let us know what you think about this blog down below!
Part of the relevance of Izuku Midoriya using the versatile word “deku” as his hero name is its origins. Originally, Bakugo insults Midoriya by calling him “deku” (short for “dekunobuo,” which roughly translates to “useless”).
Now whenever Midoriya is shocked or dumbstruck after (almost) talking to a girl (i.e. Uraraka), he yells “Holy whoa!” in a manner similar to Superman/Clark Kent exclaiming “Great Scott!” during the Golden Age.
