Chapter 204 picks up three months after the defeat of the villain Muzan, showing Tanjiro who has managed to recover from nearly being consumed as a demon. Despite his happy recovery, many of the wounds attained during the fight are still present on him, namely his left arm and right eye being permanently damaged.
When Sumihiko finally wakes up for school and gets in trouble on his way there along with Tojuro, he jumps the hood of a patrol car with the Shinazugawa siblings inside. Sumihiko's mother gets a phone call about her son's antics, and as the call continues there are images of Tanjiro's sword, earrings, and a picture of everyone who fought and survived the final fight against Muzan. It was this defeat that solidified the bright future into which all the characters reincarnated into.
