Barnes & Noble listed Dr. Stone on their list of "Our Favorite Manga of 2018". In November 2019, Crunchyroll listed Dr. Stone in their "Top 25 best anime of the 2010s". IGN also listed Dr. Stone among the best anime series of the 2010s. Dr. Stone was the 8th most watched anime series on Netflix in Japan in 2019.
On March 6th, 2022, Dr. Stone has officially ended with a total of 232 chapters. Of course, the ending of Dr. Stone was fulfilling, and it left the series on a good note.

The 13th volume of the 2022 WSJ magazine featured chapter 232 of Dr Stone's manga, a 26-pages long goodbye that also included a special colour page on the magazine's cover. The final ever chapter of Dr Stone was released on Sunday, March 6th, in line with the series' fifth-year anniversary.
Stone has come to an end, the anime is still going strong, with its third season planned for release next year. Stone's scientific ventures. As it turns out, the show is actually incredibly accurate aside from some hyperbolation for the sake of comedy and plot. The theory behind all of Senku's inventions, from his recipe for homemade gunpowder to his Stone Age cotton candy, is sound.

Senku only needs alcohol to complete the antibiotic as he and Chrome join the others in the Grand Bout, which commences with Magma's lackey Mantle forcing Kohaku to get herself disqualified after abducting Suika. Suika returns during Kinro's match with Magma, giving him her mask to remove his near-sightness, only for Magma to take him out with a cheat shot. But Chrome manages to defeat Magma with Gen's help, using his own tears with Suika's glasses to create a magnifying lens to set Magma's clothes on fire. After Ginro's humiliating defeat when he deviates from their plan, Senku wins the tournament when Chrome passes out before the final match. Senku quickly divorces Ruri once obtaining the alcohol and completes the sulfa drug, with Ruri making a full recovery. Senku is then accepted as new village chief, with Ruri revealing the village's name to be named Ishigami Village and that she learned of Senku through one of the many oral stories her bloodline kept alive. Ruri proceeds to tell the hundredth tale: The story of Senku's father, Byakuya, who became an astronaut and traveled to the International Space Station, alongside cosmonaut Shamil Volkov and American songstress Lillian Weinburg, joining fellow crew members Connie, Dalia, and Yakov. During their stay, Byakuya and the crew witness the petrification phenomenon.
Senku develops glass, using some to create corrective lenses for the short-sighted Suika, while Chrome enlists the village's skilled craftsman Kaseki to develop lab equipment. Kohaku takes Senku to the outskirts of her village, where he meets guards Kinro and Ginro along with a "sorcerer" named Chrome who Senku takes as his assistant after recognizing his "magic" as primitive science. Learning that Chrome became a sorcerer to help Kohaku's sickly sister, Ruri, Senku reveals to him about the world that existed 3,700 years ago and decides to help him and Kohaku develop an antibiotic to save Ruri. The trio are aided by the guards and a girl named Suika in a multi-part series to develop the means to make antibiotics with by-products, including the reinvention of electricity. At that time, the gang are approached by Gen Asagiri, a stage magician who Tsukasa revived to make sure Senku died but has his own agenda.
After Senku creates a batch of gunpowder, an accident caused by Taiju reveals there are other humans in the Stone World. Senku's decision to light more gunpowder attracts Tsukasa, who takes Yuzuriha hostage to demand the recipe for the revival fluid.

After extorting the formula for the revival compound from Senku, Tsukasa attempts to murder him when he realized that Senku knows how to create weapons that he cannot defend against. Believing he successfully killed Senku, Tsukasa leaves to begin establishing his own faction in the Stone World.
After recovering from his near death experience, Senku discovers a tribe of people already living on the planet and sees this as an opportunity to create his Kingdom of Science. These people are originally hesitant, but eventually learn the benefits that science can bring to their survival. Over time, Senku becomes more trusted by the tribe, eventually being taught of their past where he discovers that the village was started by his adoptive father Byakuya, along with five other astronauts, who were unaffected due to being in the International Space Station at the time of the petrification event.
