Esdeath is a play on the phrase "S" desu, which means "I am an S (sadist)". She has a small book that she uses to draw Tatsumi. Her army has its own symbol, a cross. Esdeath has a pet dragon she flies around on. Esdeath's anime portrayal was generally consistent to her manga counterpart.
Esdeath was born in the Northern Frontier Lands and is the sole remaining survivor of her village, the Partas Clan.
