Your Name is a sad movie. It has a happy ending and there are funny moments, but it's sad. It's heartbreaking. It's absolutely devastating.
Great news, anime fans! The mega-hit anime film 'Your Name' (Kimi No Na Wa) will be available on Netflix starting July 10, 2020!
Japanese anime film Your Name has already been a huge success in its own country. And now it has become the country's most successful film yet at the Chinese box office.
Namakura Gatana is the oldest existing anime short film, dating back to 1917. The film was lost until a copy was discovered in 2008. What is this? The Dull Sword is one of three works credited as a forerunner of Japanese animation films and is the only one that still exists.
Part of the confusion people have with Your Name is it's structure. Because Mitsuha exists three years behind Taki, and because the movie randomly jumps between those time periods, the story doesn't flow in chronological order. Many times it can feel like Your Name is purposely leaving out information to trip you up.
As much as we would like to have these titles forever, the reality is that some titles have their licensing agreements expire, which means there are no longer going to be available on Netflix.
Is Your Name on Netflix US? Unfortunately, Your Name isn't available on Netflix in the United States.

While the town of Itomori, one of the film's settings, is fictional, the film drew inspirations from real-life locations that provided a backdrop for the town. Such locations include the city of Hida in Gifu Prefecture and its library, Hida City Library.
Weathering With You Features Cameos From Your Name's Main Characters. Rather than simply a passing reference to Your Name, Weathering With You features another Shinkai character cameo -- and a significant one, at that. It's from one of Your Name's central characters: Taki Tachibana.
Such a film seems like an unlikely candidate for “Titanic”-level success. But since “Your Name” premièred, last August, young adults in Japan, South Korea, Thailand, and China have flocked to watch and rewatch it. It has become a national and regional phenomenon.
Taki Tachibana is the male protagonist of the show. He is a 17-year-old boy living in Tokyo. He lives a very busy life where he juggles between part-time jobs, spending time with his friends and dreaming of becoming a great architect someday. His entire lifestyle goes for a toss when he switches places with a girl named Mitsuha who wishes to step in his shoes. Taki has an average height and physique for his age and is known for being quite a good looking guy. He sports short spiky brownish hair with bangs that cover his forehead. He often wears band-aids which is, in a way, a reflection of his impulsive personality. He usually displays a very kind nature towards those around him and treats everyone equally. He is also extremely hard working and takes full responsibility for his life.
Mitsuha Miyamizu is the main protagonist of the show, who lives in a small fictitious town called Itomori. She is a 17-year-old high school student who lives with her religious family and also serves as a priestess at her family shrine. But often, she despises her life in the small city and also hates the strict rules that are imposed on her by her orthodox parents. This is why she wishes to be a handsome boy who lives freely in Tokyo. Her wish is eventually granted when she actually starts to swap her body with a high school boy named Taki, who lives in Tokyo. For her age, she has an average height and she looks a lot like her mother. She has straight black hair that touches her upper back and she often ties the back side of her hair with a red colored braided cord.
