Tower of God is good, but has a major problem… I’ve recently had the pleasure of finishing the first season of Tower of God, the anime adaptation of a web manhwa (a Korean webcomic). Overall, I found that the season had a lot of strengths such as riveting mysteries, interesting characters, and a neat little plot to tie things together.
Tower Of God is a name that will strike a chord among many fans of webtoons. It is one of the most beloved webtoons of all times. Any ardent webtoon fan would proclaim this one of their favourites, if not their favourite. In this light, it fails to surprise us that Tower Of God has got its own anime adaptation.
Season 1 of Tower of God, a Crunchyroll Original anime, was a huge hit with fans and received an average user rating of 4.7 out of 5 on Crunchyroll.
Worldbuilding: The sense of scale in Tower of God was immediately apparent, and yet the writers generally did a good job in focusing on the parts of the world relevant to the plot rather than developing tangential parts of the world.
When asked by Anime News Network about the possibilities of more seasons of Tower of God, Crunchyroll’s Director of Brand and Marketing Carter Hahnselle said, “you'll have to check out the series yourself to see how far we follow Bam up the Tower in Season 1!
Tower of God is a good anime but honestly could've been better if it weren't for the bad pacing. 70 chapters of the source material was condensed into 13 episodes which dropped a 9/10 or 10/10 story to a 7 or 8. A lot of important things were either rushed or skipped entirely.

People say that Tower of God is better than any manga out there. What do you think about it? Simply put, no. It's not even close to the best that manga has to offer.
Content Rating: TV-14 (Violence, mature themes.)
The Tower boasts an impressive cast, so it's bound to be worth a watch. Leading the drama is Gemma Whelan who takes on the role as detective Sarah Collins. Viewers will recognise Gemma from her many parts in TV shows such as Game of Thrones, Gentleman Jack, Emma and Killing Eve.
Tower of God has character designs that will be easy to merchandise and can easily be made into keychains or figures. The characters look good and won't stand out when being sold alongside other shows at anime conventions. Tons of anime fans love collecting, and this show is sure not to disappoint.
Though the series may not have quite finished its first season, it's already clear to see that it is the superior adaptation in both story and animation. With the wonderful animation provided by MAPPA, interesting characters, and fantastic fight choreography, the winner is The God of High School.

The Tower is the world and setting of Tower of God. There are currently 135 confirmed Floors, though the Zahard Empire has only expanded up to the 134th Floor, as Zahard has yet to conquer the 135th Floor. The Outer Tower of each Floor is the size of the Americas, making the Tower at least 11 times the size of Earth.
Even out of combat, the comedy is just cringy as hell. I was expecting it to go away as the plot progressed, but it only got worse. Everything in Tower of God is a mystery....Reviews.Overall3Story3Animation4Sound7Character31 more row•Jun 24, 2020
Tower of God features plenty of tropes and ideas familiar to fans of Shonen Jump comics and their ilk.
It really is fantastic. Just start from the beginning, its worth it! I decided to read one chapter per day after the last episode of the anime came out, starting on season 2 of the webtoon, and so far it's been a great experience. Some weeks are slow, but over all I think pacing yourself makes the story more enjoyable.
Story centers around a kid named Bam, who follows the only person he ever knew to the Tower of God. It is rumored that when you reach the top of this tower you will attain everything you could ever want. Usually people and creatures who get the chance to try to climb on top of this Tower are choosen by the caretaker of the tower, but our Bam here did something special, since he opened the door to get to this tower by himself without being chosen. This makes him what they call Irregular. A person that is destined to bring chaos into the tower. This marks the beginningof the journey where Bam tries to climb up to the tower to follow the person who left him behind.
Where the Tower of God is lacking most is the world building. It does not establish proper context for the story veiling itself in false sense of mystery. We have some scheming factions, organizational structures, races, series of haphazardly selected environments and tests … and Yes, the Tower itself.
Animation is most of the time pretty good, but nothing special. It has it's own style and it stands out. Fight scenes are animated well and there isn't anything that sticked out to me in a bad way.
I've seen small snippets of it, and it seems interesting.. I've mostly seen the character chika who seems to be the comedy relief, or wholesome character, and I like it.. is it worth it? and is the character assumption I've made true?
Hi! My brother is really wanting to watch anime. Unfortunately my parents (more specifically, my mom) have the view that majority of it is inappropriate for his age.
i've been watching anime series that, let's just say, have A LOT that's going on and right now, i want an anime that's overall chill and wholesome just to relax my brain a bit.
I kinda need this. Need something to make me smile till my stomach hurts and a bit of action would be really cool to watch as well. Thank you in advance!
Two of my all-time favorite show that fit this are Made in Abyss and Girls Last Tour. Stuff that fits in the feel zone I would love to watch.
