To build your team, there are a few things to consider:
Solomon is a Caster-class Hero who participated in the First Holy Grail War of the Fate/Grand Order timeline, and he is considered to be the king of all magecraft. Solomon qualifies as a Grand Caster, which puts him above all other Servants in terms of power. He can summon beings to aid him, and he possesses clairvoyance.

Although the chronological order might seem tempting, if you’re a first-time watcher, I recommend you watch it in the release order. Fate/ stay night Trailer 1 Fate/ Stay Night Trailer On the other hand, if you have already watched the series and would like to revisit it, the chronological order is recommended.

Fate/Grand Order is (primarily) a mobile game, not an anime. Specifically, it is a turn-based tactical role-playing game based on the Fate series. The Fate series surrounds a worldview where there is magic.
Fate/Grand Order ‐First Order‐ - Watch on Crunchyroll.
For me, this anime is enjoyable. It may be not good enough for who doesn't know fgo much but if you love the game, it's worth watching.
Japanese FGO is about 2 years ahead of the US version. Event frequency is the same, so therefore many people make event predictions (that turn out correct) about upcoming events in NA.
Watch Fate/Grand Order -First Order- | Netflix.
Watch Fate/Grand Order Absolute Demonic Front: Babylonia | Netflix.
Fate/Zero is set 10 years before Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works and is the opposite of the chronological order, but watching it this way makes it easier to understand the rules of the world. Fate/Grand Order -First Order- is more backtracking.
Short answer, no. You don't have to watch it. But it was the thing that did make me start playing the game even when I heard about the game before. I do recommend being familiar with the Fate series and Nasuverse before watching the movie.
Start with FGO First Order and then Babylonia episode 0. Watching the main Stay Night series isn't important for FGO. The best order for you to watch FGO is you dont. I don't think the movies and series are for people who don't already play Fate/Grand Order.

You need to know, Fate/Grand Order consists of mainly seven singularities (+a prologue), something like chapters as you play the game. Not the whole story will be animated. As of now, Fate/Grand Order: First Order, which is based on the prologue in the game, has been adapted into an anime tv film.
Specifically, it is a turn-based tactical role-playing game based on the Fate series. The Fate series surrounds a worldview where there is magic. Specifically, some magi would summon servants, who are usually the spirits of heroes after their death, to aid them in fights.
1) Fate/Grand Order: First Order. Think of it as an introduction to the game, it covers the events of the Fuyuki Singularity. 2) Fate/Grand Order: Moonlight Lost Room. Its about a room for lost things or something I'm not really sure about this one.
The original is a game with branching plot (“visual novel”) called Fate/Stay Night . It has 3 big routes (ways the events can develop): Stay Night, Unlimited Blade Works and Heaven’s Feel. The game forces you to play it in that specific order, and that is on purpose. The best option would be to start by playing that game.
Fate/Extra is a good game, though. So I recommend playing it.) Fate/Grand Order: First Order (This is the start of the anime adaptation of the Fate/Grand Order video game. I recommend waiting till the other anime adaptations are released before watching it, so you can watch them in the correct order.)
There is no definite order for Fate series since the Visual Novel and the anime are not directly connected. So, this is just based on my experiences and I prefer your own choice and experience to watch the series. I will just assume that you will be watching the anime.

Because they are set in different realities, the events of one not affecting the other, and not following one chronological linear timeline, you don’t really have to watch all the anime series. You can pick which one (s) you want to watch. The different realities each tell different stories.
Fate/Zero is a prequel story to Fate/stay night. It does a good job of fleshing out the background and motivations of the characters we see in Fate/stay night. So we recommend that you watch in this order. 1st - Fate/Zero. 2nd - Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works (2014)
2 Fate/Grand Order - Absolute Demonic Front: Babylonia (Anime, 2019) In Babylonia, Chaldea's Ritsuka and Mash travel in time to Mesopotamia in 2655 B.C. Their goal is to fix the Singularity in this era to prevent the Earth's destruction in 2016 - only for a monster-besieged region to surprise them.
Events of Fate/EXTRA Last Encore starts hazy, and that's by intention. In this anime, Hakuno Kishinami wakes up in a strange world accompanied only by a Servant. With no recollection of his past, he somehow apparently has to win the Holy Grail War and, hopefully, regain his identity in the process.
Fate/Zero once again takes place in Fuyuki City, a decade before the events of Fate/stay night. As this setting implies, Fate/Zero serves as the prequel to Shirou's adventures. This time around, Kiritsugu Emiya becomes a participant of the Fourth Holy Grail War.
Fate/Zero serves as a great third piece of media to bridge the main Fate/stay night story and its spinoffs. After Fate/Zero, fans may also choose to play the /stay night sequel, /hollow ataraxia.
Surprisingly, their journey ends when the world is about to end, in 2016. Ritsuka and Mash need to stop Solomon's plans once and for all.
Unbeknownst to him, Sakura has a mysterious past connected not just to the Holy Grail War as a whole, but to the entity that has begun killing off the War's participants. As with UBW , the Heaven's Feel films explore the titular route in the VN, where Sakura becomes Shirou's leading lady.
This adaptation branches away out of the VN's "Fate Route" and takes its "Unlimited Blade Works Route," where Rin becomes Shirou's leading lady.
