Six months after the defeat of Majin Buu, The mighty Saiyan Son Goku continues his quest on becoming stronger.
Naruto is more relative than dragon Ball in how the world works etc etc. Even though that sounds stupid considering its an anime, it's also more complex than dragon Ball because everyone has their own fighting techniques and abilities whereas in dragon Ball alot of fighters fight the same way just using ki blasts.
The anime Dragon Ball has a very unique concept note, which fortunately is executed very well. It is riddled with a lot of mythological, religious, and cultural influences, which give it depth.
Things to note before we begin:
For Dragon Ball Super, the manga and anime are both considered canon by fans because of its input by Toriyama.

It is set between Dragon Ball Z episodes 288 and 289 and is the first Dragon Ball television series featuring a new storyline in 18 years since the final episode of Dragon Ball GT in 1997.
As well as the additional manga content detailing the story of the powerful fugitive Moro, new content continues to be churned out in the form of Super Dragon Ball Heroes.
The best thing the manga has over the anime is simply the fact that it is still ongoing. There have been rumors the anime will eventually come back, but they've simply been rumors, as the series running in its timeslot is still going.
The manga was being published simultaneously with the production of the Dragon Ball Super anime but went ahead of it following the Universe Survival Saga. A full color version of the manga is being released.
Dragon Ball Super Gets Cancelled Overseas Over Sexual Harassment Claims. Dragon Ball Super has been out for years now, but the show continues to find new fans by the day. From the manga to series re-runs, there are lots of ways to check on the title, and these outlets are huge in South America.

In what order should I read the Dragon Ball (manga)? First Read Dragon Ball Volumes 1–16 then read Dragon Ball Z Volumes 1–26, these volumes may have numbers 17–42 on them because they were volumes 17–42 of Dragon Ball in Japan. Then read Volumes 1–2 of Dragon Ball Super; there isn't a third volumes yet.
Perhaps the biggest point in favor of the manga is that it lacks the filler content that viewers despised in Dragon Ball Z. In the anime, these filler scenes were added so that the anime didn't catch up to the manga; thus, there's no reason for the manga to include them.

Both the manga and anime each featured their own side stories that did not appear in their corresponding counterpart. The manga has an extra sequence of Trunks and Goten taking care of the wildlife preserve guarded by Android 17 while the android-turned-park-ranger is away fighting in the Tournament of Power. During this sequence, the boys discover Cell Juniors on the island who attack, until they realize the two young fighters mean them no harm.
In a standalone animated film, Goku and Vegeta face off against a reimagined Broly, with a resurrected Frieza exacerbating the situation as part of his continued revenge against the Saiyans. In addition to introducing a canonical version of Broly to the franchise, the movie also brings in Gogeta, the composite warrior formed by Goku and Vegeta doing the Fusion Dance.
After only publishing spin-off manga for many years, the Dragon Ball series made a comeback in 2015 with the Dragon Ball Super anime.
Released shortly after as promotional material was the Dragon Ball Super manga. Because the original writer, Akira Toriyama, and his main co-writer, Toyotaro, both have more involvement in the manga than the anime, there are a lot of differences between the two, the biggest of which will be listed here.
Goku achieves a form referred to as "Perfected Super Saiyan Blue" that he uses to combat Zamasu after he merges with Goku Black. Vegeta also attained this form later in the manga.
This one is a bit weird, as even in the anime, they describe Super Saiyan Blue as a form where you essentially "stack" Super Saiyan on top of Super Saiyan God. This means that Vegeta has also used Super Saiyan God in the anime, we just never see it.
Late into Dragon Ball Super, we see Goku break his limits and use a technique referred to as Ultra Instinct. This form's less developed state is called Ultra Instinct "Omen" and throughout the Tournament of Power, we see Vegeta also try to achieve this state that is difficult even for a God of Destruction to attain.
In the manga, during the Zamasu Arc, Goku uses the Hakai technique to erase Merged Zamasu. Goku only has an incomplete version of the technique, but being able to erase people partially is better than not being able to erase people at all. Weirdly enough, Goku is being trained by the Gods to be a Destroyer.
Jiren the Grey was brought into Dragon Ball Super to be the main antagonist during the Tournament of Power. At the time of his fights, he was the greatest foe the Z-Warriors had ever faced. Unlike Hit, Jiren does not have many abilities; he simply is powerful, and excessively at that.
The latest arc of Dragon Ball Super manga is introducing a new way of battle to the series. For one thing, the latest villain is able to drain energy so quickly that Goku and Vegeta both aren’t able to maintain their Super Saiyan Blue forms, and has even drained Goku so dry once he wasn’t able to use Instant Transmission. As of the most recent chapter, Vegeta has traveled to the planet Yardrat to learn some of their moves to become more effective against this new villain, the mystic monster Moro. These moves don’t seem to be based on power, but manipulating one’s ki in other ways.
Later it’s how he battles against and defeats the Kefla. In the manga however, he only activates it's imperfect form once before achieving the perfect form the second time. It’s believed to be the ultimate end of Goku’s training from some of the best trainers on Earth and in the universe.
First it comes when he’s struck with his own Spirit Bomb, his energy zeroes out and he gets in touch with his inner mind. Later it’s how he battles against and defeats the Kefla. In the manga however, he only activates it's imperfect form once before achieving the perfect form the second time. It’s believed to be the ultimate end of Goku’s training from some of the best trainers on Earth and in the universe. His body slims down like Super Saiyan God form, and he can only use it briefly, but it’s long enough to put Jiren down.
During the tournament, when Goku begins to see Jiren as invincible, Roshi steps up and decides to show Goku what he’s been missing while constantly searching for the next power-up. He reminds Goku that none of the people who have trained him in the past—from Kami to King Kai to Roshi himself—have ever focused on teaching him about power alone. And for a brief moment he manages to dodge a few of Jiren’s blows, before getting knocked out of the arena once Jiren gets serious.
This was of course the form Trunks used in the anime which somehow managed to have both the golden aura of Super Saiyan and the Blue aura of Super Saiyan Blue, which helped him keep pace with Goku Black and even score one of the final blows on him before he goes nuclear and tries to absorb the entire universe.
KEFLA. After an embarrassing defeat at the hands of Frieza, Gohan learns that he can’t let other people do his fighting for him. Working alongside Piccolo, he regains much of his battle senses. And just like the Buu Saga gave Gohan a power-up that allowed him to no longer need Super Saiyan, the manga keeps that up.
There’s no explanation of how he gets this form, and the manga simply doesn’t have it—he just goes Perfected Super Saiyan 2. The manga version of Trunks isn't nearly as strong as a result, and winds up losing his encounter with Zamasu/Goku Black.
