Anime adaptations of videogames are nearly as commonplace as the reverse, but with the Scarlet Nexus -based anime series, fans can experience twice as much of the story compared to a single playthrough of the game.
Red Criminal Scarlet Nexus, stylised as SCARLET NEXUS, is a Japanese anime television series based on the video game of the same name. The series is licensed in North America by Funimation, with the first two episodes premiering on YouTube early on June 18 and June 25 respectively.

Scarlet Nexus is an action role-playing game played from a third-person perspective. Players can assume control of either Yuito Sumeragi or Kasane Randall, members of the Other Suppression Force (OSF) who are tasked to defend New Himuka from creatures known as the Others.

The anime series of Scarlet Nexus will be having 26 episodes all in all, on a double-cour, for the whole summer season and the next, and there would be no breaks in between each episode aside from the weekly interval of each release.
Still, Scarlet Nexus does have romance, but not in the way that many JRPG fans might be hoping for. Instead, romance is weaved within the storyline. For example, thanks to Scarlet Nexus' use of the myth known as the red thread of fate, there may be heavy implications of romance between Yuito and Kasane.

On March 18, 2021, an anime television series adaptation produced by Sunrise was announced and licensed by Funimation outside of Asia. Medialink licensed the anime in South and Southeast Asia.
