Re:Zero light novel is not even close to finishing. With volume 24 released in September, according to the author, the series is barely halfway done. The novel is divided into six arcs, with the 4th arc being the longest one, consisting of 130 chapters excluding the epilogue. It is this arc that season two of Re:Zero is currently adapting.
It's not based on a manga, but on a Light Novel series. It ends with Vol 9. If you are curious, it continues from the interlude in Vol. 9, but the anime is less than a week away so you could wait. If you love Re:Zero, you should definitely read the web novel as it has content worth of +4 seasons.
The bad news is that there are no official announcements regarding the release of Season 3 just yet. To be fair, the second season aired this year itself so expecting a sequel almost instantaneously is kind of unreasonable.

It’s important to remember that the world of Re:Zero isn’t actually a video-game world, it’s just a generic fantasy world. Sure there are skills to ‘unlock’, but they’re unlocked in the same way you’d unlock them in the real world, by practice.
