Well… it’s a video game series, primarily. But there is a TV show (loosely) based on those games, and it’s an animated series from Japan. “Anime” as we use it in English is literally just a word for a Japanese animated series. So yes, Pokémon is an anime.
With over a thousand episodes under its belt, Pokémon sits alongside the likes of One Piece and Detective Conan as an anime institution. In some ways, it will be a strange day when Pokémon ends; that said, this is one long-running anime that is not worth watching in its entirety.
With no real animals around and only Pokemon, it can be assumed that people in the Pokemon universe eat Pokemon. It is known already that people drink "MooMoo Milk" which is milk from Miltank, but as far as meat goes, Pokemon does not go into what they do eat.
While in different dubs, the Pokémon tend to say their whole name or sometimes just a part of their names, many Pokémon in the Japanese version often only use a couple of syllables, if not only one syllable (although, it is noticeable with Pikachu in every dub), but Pokémon rarely ever say their full name.

The Pokémon anime can often differ to the Pokémon games. While the games tend to dictate the venues and main events that occur within the anime, and tend to correspond on basic information, there are many noticeable differences or contradictions that can be seen between the two media.
The anime has switched to creating more unique companion designs for Ash, rather than trying to forcibly connect the games to the TV show. Ash himself may not make appearances in the Pokémon games series, but players can obtain special event Pikachu that sports his hat in Pokémon Sword and Shield.
When I say Pokémon, most of you probably think of the games. But the franchise owes just as much of its success to its cartoon series. The Pokémon anime started in 1997, one year after the original game released in Japan. Those handheld classics celebrate their 20th anniversary this week.
A cartoon is an image that is generally drawn either in an unrealistic or semi-realistic way and is usually depicted for comical and satirical entertainment. A person who draws cartoon images is called a cartoonist however, in recent times they are referred to as animators.
Anime as we all know is a term we came to know from the Japanese animated shows. Anime is the short form of the word ‘animation’ which the Japanese used to call their animated shows regardless of their designs, styles, and quality. Anime is generally hand drawn and computer animation used by the Japanese to illustrate animated pictures.
Although both cartoons and anime are animated content produced for entertainment purposes for certain groups of audiences there are a couple of differences that are worth discussing.
It showcases the main character, a ten year old boy named Ash, as the protaganist, and through his adventures he quickly makes friends with Misty, Brock, and of course, the main pokemon Pikachu. He goes around the region battling gym leaders, beating up Team Rocket Members, and going on various misadventures.
Unlike in the games, pokemon say their name in their speech patterns to talk rather than making sounds like animals as their forms in the games do. Whether this is a good thing or a bad thing really depends on the person watching it, but it didn't bother me at all. Voice actors are fine except for Ash at the beginning.
The show as shown on the website is actually multiple sections in the overall gigantic pokemon anime itself, with new regions composing new seasons. Usually the anime follows the order of the release of the video games, so it's relatively easy to follow for players.
Story (9/10): Pokemon brought something new to the table as a game series and an anime not seen before. Now, instead of just fighting monsters in an rpg style story, one could actually capture them in a ball, befriend them and take them around in their pocket wherever they wanted to go.

In a February 2008 review for IGN, Jeffrey Harris gave the Indigo League series a score of 2 out of 10, saying: "Ultimately, the show's story is boring, repetitive, and formulaic. The show constantly preaches about friendship and helping others. ... Nearly every episode features Ash, Misty, and Brock on a trip. Team Rocket tries the latest scheme to catch Pikachu or whatever else, and fails miserably." He concluded: "at the end of the day, this franchise feels more like crass marketing t…
