The character development is good (Only the main characters). The manga artstyle is great and the anime has some very good animations with some amazing soundtracks. But it is flawed so is any other series. Thank You for reading.

Yes, it is long but it is also my favorite anime ever and I've watched the entire series twice, even despite how long it is. If time is too much of an issue, you could always skip the fillers to make it shorter. But Naruto is an amazing story that is totally worth the watch.

But recently two new Animes have been released which are similar to Naruto: 1 My Hero Academia 2 Black Clover
It is because of the awesome character development they have focused upon, during the whole series so far. Every main character portrayed in Naruto series, has his/her own story. They don't just come and go away. Every character has a dark past behind what they are today. This character development, binds the viewers with the story. They grow along with the character.
Unlike some other anime like One Piece, DBZ, etc. where the fight scenes are slow paced or/and without any tactics, the fight scenes in Naruto are well directed. The fight scenes are comparatively fast paced and well amount of tactics and strategies are involved in them. At every step the opponents try to gauge the enemies' fighting ability and how to counter them. Also, the protagonist is not always fighting alone but rather several comrades are involved and they all have their contribution during the fight scenes. Some suspense is also there to be revealed during this stage as the fight progresses. This is done without taking unnecessary slow sequences. plus, the animation is also very good during those scenes. This makes the fight scenes actually interesting and thus bounds the viewers completely. Here below is a video clip of Naruto vs Pain fight scene. Watch it to get the idea.
After Jiraiya died, Naruto underwent some good growth through his mourning, and this was my favorite and undoubtedly the best aspect of his growing characterization. There are many aspects of characters having wasted potential, and not living up to the standards that the series and the fans expected.
The most depressing aspect of this anime is that it loses it’s original message . Naruto was an orphan who was disliked and mistreated by almost everyone, but despite this, he was determined to become the number one ninja of his village and prove everyone who doubted him wrong by sheer willpower and hard work.
Naruto will give you moments that are just down right sad, but have messages that effect the series, and the watcher/reader as a person. Jiraya Death: A mentor is just as good as his student. Zabuzza Death: Even devils have a heart. Minato’s Goodbye: Be thankful for your guardians, even if they aren’t ideal.
Even the villains/antagonists portrayed in this anime series, are likeable because they all have their own well-justified reasons choosing the darker path of destruction and hatred.
