This is Veronica, 8 years old, reviewing on my mom's account. This is a beautiful film that focuses on magic and friendship. Mary finds a magical flower that gives her powers, but when the magic runs out and mayhem starts, she finds out that sometimes friendship is the real magic.

Mary and The Witch's Flower [Blu-ray]

This movie represents a new beginning for Studio Ghibli, as it has transformed into Studio Ponoc. Watching the trailer u immediately recognize many Ghibli Hallmarks, but nevertheless Ponoc's first work is a wonderful milestone in what I hope to be the first of many more masterful animations.

Storyline

Mary is an ordinary young girl stuck in the country with her Great-Aunt Charlotte and seemingly no adventures or friends in sight. She follows a mysterious cat into the nearby forest, where she discovers an old broomstick and the strange Fly-by-Night flower, a rare plant that blossoms only once every seven years and only in that forest.

Watched this movie yesterday in it's premier date in Japan. While it definitely kept up to par with the high quality Ghibli animation and story standards, I feel like it somewhat lacked the originality that Miyazaki's movies normally have.
