Considering how many episodes and chapters you had to went through, Marineford Arc does not deliver. For such a grand scale of an event.. only to have like 1 - 2 major characters die was laughable. It left no impact on me.
The Marineford Arc (known as the Paramount War in the Viz Manga translation and the War of the Best in the FUNimation sub) is the twenty-second story arc in the series, and the fourth in the Summit War Saga of the One Piece series, continuing on from Impel Down Arc.
I am used to the pacing and the anime's take on Marineford is really good. If you don’t mind the show pacing go for it but if you can’t bear it go for manga you can finish marineford in a day with manga but takes days in the anime
There was plenty of action and drama. The arc spanned 33 episodes and ran from episode 457 to 489. In this post, we will be ranking the top 10 episodes of the Marineford arc based on IMDb ratings. Luffy and Garp might be bound by blood, but they took completely different paths in life.

1) Warship Island This was yet another filler arc where the Straw Hats needed to save someone from the Marines, that time a little girl. Again, there was very little plot relevance to these particular episodes. The villains were also particularly non-threatening, in both their designs and their fighting abilities.
Definitely watch, the feels are a bit more there with a watch with this one. Overall Manga is miles better but the voice actors do a great job with this one.

This episode was very emotional as Garp was the last person standing between Luffy and Ace. Luffy had to knock out Garp in order to reach Ace and he actually did hit Garp.
Whitebeard was very angry as Teach was responsible for the deaths of Thatch and Ace. Whitebeard unleashed his fury on Teach and at one point, it seemed that Teach might die.

1 Wano Country (Act 1 and Act 2) The Wano Country arc is the ongoing arc in One Piece which will eventually see Luffy take on Yonko Kaido at the Land of Wano. The arc begins when the Sanji-Retrieval Team arrives at Wano and the Straw Hat Pirates reunite, to a certain extent.
The Punk Hazard Arc is one of the most iconic arcs in One Piece for more than one reason. Not only does it mark the beginning of the Dressrosa Saga, but it also sees to it that the first steps of the 'vs Yonko' Saga are finally taken.
The Zou Arc follows Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates' journey after the events of Dressrosa where Donquixote Doflamingo was taken down. Prior to Luffy, half the crew led by Sanji was already there. The Zou Arc is rather short but akin to Sabaody Archipelago, one of the arcs where you simply can't point to an error.
Most fans agree that the Arlong Park arc marks the moment when One Piece started to take off properly. It was in this arc where Oda started to expand the One Piece world by introducing the concept of Fishmen and the Seven Warlords. It is also here that fans learn the truth about Nami's backstory, which was the most tragic and emotional one at the time.
It also introduces the Celestial Dragons, descendants of the founders of the World Government who wield absolute political power. After one of them shoots one of Luffy's friends and tries to enslave another, the Straw Hat pirate retaliates by punching him in the face.
The Skypiea arc is one of the more underrated arcs in the series. It has all the elements necessary for a great adventure, as well as the most unique environment in the One Piece world. It also reveals some vital information regarding the mysterious Poneglyphs.

One of the best things in One Piece is the word-expansion in architecture, geography, politics, or general power structure . Arcs like Jaya serves as an information dump for world expansion.
Luffy and Law formed an alliance and travel to Dressrosa to take down the country’s king, Doflamingo. One Piece is blessed with amazing antagonists in the series but Doflamingo stands out even among the lot. Pacing is a problem especially in anime with more than 100 episodes.
Whisky Peak arc focuses on the events in Whiskey Peak where Straw Hats encounter Baroque works’ agents. Zoro cuts 100 bounty hunters by himself and Luffy fights Zoro for the only time ever.
This arc focuses on a contest between the Straw Hat Pirates and the Foxy Pirates, called the “Davy Back Fight”. The arc on its own is quite decent and funny.
Luffy and the Dressrosa group finally joins Nami and others in Zou. An alive island in the form of a walking elephant is another brilliant addition to the already amazing world. This arc reveals a lot of information and also takes one step closer to the end goal, One Piece.
Thriller Bark is another arc that suffered due to arguably a bad antagonist in Moria. I tend to look at this arc as a three-part story – story before Moria introduction, battle against Moria, and Kuma part. The early part of this arc is easily the funniest set of episodes in the series so far.
Nightbird. Not only did Marineford showcase just how far away Luffy was from even trying to play in the big league, it's also the arc that permanently changed the playing field in the World of One Piece. On top of that, it's an arc that would have ended the same way whether Luffy was there or not.
I don't remember any fight having a satisfying conclusion, except for, well, you know. Though, One Piece isn't really good at fights anyway, but at least the story beats in that arc were cool.

Fifty marine ships are stationed around the island with cannons lining the coastline. And at the front line of it all are none other than the remaining Warlords of the Sea ( Kuma, Moria, Doflamingo, Mihawk and Boa Hancock ). At the rear of the island, Ace is located atop the execution stand.
