But Haikyuu, currently holding the title as the most popular sports anime, is an exception — and arguably one of the more realistic shows out there.
Haikyū!! (Japanese: ハイキュー!!, Haikyū!!) is a shōnen sports anime series based on the manga by Haruichi Furudate, and produced is by Production I.G and Toho in conjunction with Japanese television network MBS. The anime consits of four seasons, four movies, and five OVAs.

So, here's why I was disappointed to learn that Haikyuu was a shounen series... shounen series are almost always about action. And the focus of the series almost always tends to not be so much about character, but rather making the entire focus of the show on this action and competition.
The first two seasons of Haikyu!! were added to Netflix globally on November 1st, 2019. This means that the reason for Haikyu!! leaving is due to Netflix's license to stream the anime is coming to an end.
The Series, Haikyu Age Rating is TV-14 for the content shown in the series.
The coronavirus pandemic delayed the production schedule for Season 4, pushing its release dates back. Haikyuu Season 5 has been subjected to the same kind of delays. A huge thank you to the entire Haikyu!! Anime team for their continued hard work this past year!
Yuna Hinata (Japanese: 日向 友奈 Hinata Yūna) is the coach of Senbonzakura High`s volleyball club. She is also an alumnus and former player on the team, playing as a libero. It is unknown what year she married Keishin Ukai, but it is known that she is 36, looking to be much younger than her appearance.
After a freak accident, volleyball prodigy Kageyama Tobio goes blind. No longer able to set, pass or even hit the ball properly, he must learn to live with the way he is and to again fall in love with the sport he holds so close to his heart, with help from a certain ray of sunshine.
Definitely Haikyuu. Personally, I love both of them equally. Both BNHA and Haikyuu have great storylines that keep the viewers/ readers engaged, but in terms of interpersonal relations between the characters and the way they're developed in the story, I personally think Haikyuu is better.

6 Dragon Ball Z Is The Most Influential Shonen Anime Even though Dragon Ball Z isn't the first shonen anime ever, it's definitely the most influential. In one way or another, almost every other hit shonen series has taken inspiration from Dragon Ball Z.
Hinata Shouyou, a short middle school student, gained a sudden love of volleyball after watching a national championship match on TV. Determined to become like the championship's star player, a short boy nicknamed "the small giant", Shouyou joined his school's volleyball club.
This anime is very brilliantly crafted. Compelling characters, beautiful and strong openings, natural comedy and superb animation makes this anime a must watch. 10/10
Haikyu!! started out as a shonen sports manga by Haruichi Furudate. The series ran in Weekly Shonen Jump from 2012 to 2020. There were 402 chapters, divided up into 45 tankobon volumes. The anime started in 2014. So far, there have been 85 episodes in four seasons: First season, 25 episodes, originally aired in 2014.
Shoyo, Kageyama, Nishinoya, and Tanaka must pass their exams before they can go. Hitoka Yachi is introduced; she becomes the manager of the team. The team wins its first match at the training camp, but Shoyo wants to be able to improve and compete by himself. Kageyama seeks advice from Oikawa.
First season of the anime: It begins with the Karasuno High Team Formation Arc (episodes 1-14), and ends with the Interhigh Arc (episodes 15-25). (Each episode is equivalent to several manga chapters.) Karasuno High’s ‘Little Giant’ inspires junior high school student Shoyo Hinata to become a volleyball player.
Anime and Manga. Haikyu!! is not the first volleyball anime series ever, but it is undoubtedly the best. It has everything that you might want or expect from a shonen sports series. Start with a plucky, determined underdog shonen anime hero (combine Naruto Uzumaki’s attitude with Ichigo Kurosaki’s hair) and add in his arrogant ‘I’m better ...
As of June 2021, a fifth season of Haikyu!! has not been announced yet. At the end of the fourth season, the creators dropped hints that there might be a fifth season. The manga has officially ended, but there is still plenty of manga material which could be adapted into a fifth season.
With relatively short seasons, and an overarching high school sports competition theme, you might assume that Haikyu!! story arcs aren’t really that important to enjoying the anime series . But fans have come up with the following arc titles for the manga chapters:
"Haikyuu!!," with its impeccably animated and long-drawn-out volleyball matches, shonen-style storylines, and deep characterizations of a whole cadre of interesting characters, is a well-loved sports anime that's been around since 2014. The series starts out when small but spunky middle schooler Shōyō Hinata becomes enamored with volleyball after watching Karasuno High play on TV, only to find no one else at his school is interested in the sport. By the end of his middle school career, he has persuaded some friends to join him on a team so they can compete in a tournament. However, despite redheaded Hinata's amazing vertical jump, they suffer a crushing defeat at the hands of Tobio Kageyama, who's been dubbed "The King of the Court," and his team.
has a one-year production cycle, which means that whenever Season 5 is actually announced, the show will probably return (possibly in a split-cour format, again), 12-13 months after that.
Crunchyroll. The first three seasons of "Haikyuu!!". came out promptly in 2014, 2015, and 2016. Then, there was a huge gap between the third and fourth seasons, and the fourth season itself was not announced until late 2018, per Crunchyroll. It aired split in two segments (or cours) from January to April 2020, then October to December 2020.
The English cast for the first three seasons includes Bryson Bauga as Hinata, Scott Gibbs as Kageyama, Greg Cote as Tanaka, ...
Kakeru Kurahara was an ace runner for his high school and after meeting the excitable Haiji Kiyose, he ends up moving into the dorms— unaware that it was reserved for the team. Kakeru is also pretty similar to Kageyama, he is a bit more sullen and focuses on himself before he realizes what it is to be a part of a team.
7 Food Wars! Has A Truly Energetic Protagonist. While Food Wars! is a cooking anime, it is also considered a shonen sports anime. Souma Yukihira is an excellent cook, he learned from his father who owns his own restaurant and makes amazing food.
It is an anime that shares a lot of properties with other popular shonen anime and is probably one of the greatest sports anime in the modern age.
There is a total of 4 seasons of Haikyuu. 4th season is divided into two parts and 5 OVAs of Haikyuu. The story of all the seasons and the OVAs highlights the achievements and problems the Karasuno High Volleyball team and Hinata face to realize their dream of being a part of the nationals.
I briefly mentioned all the Haikyuu seasons, OVAs, and the movies in a simple chronological order. Now it’s time to go through the brief storyline of each so that you may know why this show is worth every second of your time.
In my opinion, you have to watch Haikyuu in order to get a better understanding of the show, but technically, you don’t have to watch the movies and the OVAs to follow the storyline. OVAs describe what happened in the seasons in detail to help you understand the story in-depth. But you can watch the four seasons only to get the general storyline.
