While the norm of such a frenetically-themed show would be spastic incoherency, however, GATE progresses fairly steadily in a character-driven narrative. The overall story quickly dwindles into irrelevancy, and what remains is a bunch of fairly interesting actors on a quirky stage of “what ifs.”
The anime aren't very much alike, but the beginning of Goulart reminded me of Gate. The similar thing about both anime is their military backgrounds.. and the beginning of Goulart starts with the characters in a Military vehicle, similar to Gate. Both anime employ a military vibe, mixed with magic and fantasy.
While certainly no horror or gore flick, there’s a measure of gritty realism placed alongside elves in jeans and wizards in gas masks that balances the whimsicality of the humor with the grittiness of the underlying commentary. Sound: The music in GATE is fitting but readily forgettable.
Once the chaos dies down, though, Itami’s character is developed as quite a bit more than random otaku, and the show spends much of its time promoting his general likeableness. Itami comes across as a sort of perfect soldier who balances personal life, professional duty, and having to make brutal decision quite nicely.
SEason 1 and 2 are well worth a watch. Parents will need to be careful letting their children watch as this show, like many from japan, deals with very adult and confronting topics. But there is no fan based content here, so nothing too naughty.

Both are action packed anime with comedy. The difference is GATE is about military while KonoSuba is purely an adventure in fantasy world.
It had like no romance in it from what I remember. There is a female character that likes to flirt with the mc but in a playful way .
Content Rating: R-17 (Violence, huge death tolls through warfare, mildly sexual situations and fanservice, mature themes.)
Sekai Project announced it won't be continuing the publication of the manga series Gate, but left the door open for others to take the reins. Sad news for fans that have been waiting for months to see the continuation of Sekai Project's manga series GATE (Japanese title: Gate: Jieitai Kano Chi nite, Kaku Tatakaeri).

Rory falls deeply in love with Itami and has never been in love before. Rory is a heavy drinker. She can only collect souls of warriors who die in the Special Region not in the world beyond the Gate showing that the world beyond the Gate like Japan is out of her jurisdiction.
6 The Art Style And Animation Hold Up While Steins; Gate is an anime that is eight years old, the art style is very clean and appealing to the eye. Everything down to the colors used is totally crisp. Just like with the art style, the animation quality is equally as high and holds up to this day.
but no, it's not a harem. There is only one girl called Kurisu and a trap named Ruka who take a romantic interest in Okabe.
On August 20XX, a gate suddenly appears in Tokyo's Ginza district, unleashing a portal where monsters, medieval knights and other fantasy beings come from another world and wreak havoc on Tokyo. The Japanese Defense Force take action against these monsters and push them back into the "Gate".
Story: When deciding to watch a show, I generally aim to have as little information going in as possible. Usually the synopsis, title, cover image, and average user ratings are the extent of what I expose myself to upfront, leaving my expectations completely open to whatever gets thrown my way.
Overpowered characters easily rise above the conflicts of their story. When competition is involved, they use their intelligence, fighting prowess or pure raw power to win with ease, always staying ten steps ahead. the only difference is the rising of the shield hero tends to be a bit darker to watch shading wise whereas Gate has a much brighter ability to see what you're viewing. so remember to keep that in mind if you're watching shield hero on a bright screen, the darkness factor could be a bit "blinding". otherwise it's a very similar story line with different heroes facing up against other worldly creatures such as dragons, goblins and so forth.
Outbreak Company and GATE, are similar in a few ways. They both involve the Otaku protagonist going into a fantasy world, along with military personnel. In order to establish a good stance with the neighboring kingdom, that exists in the new world. They both also have the one character, that quickly learns japanese.
Main difference with GATE being that it tkaes place both in the modern human world and the fantasy world, with the two clashing. Both seasons of GATE are an adventure, if you like Shield Hero, elves, demi humans etc. you'll love GATE.

But the boy's solitary life soon comes to an end when he's hired as an ambassador to a newly-discovered world, where the only job criteria is to be a hardcore otaku!
Adventure anime in a an unknown fantasy world. Good characters in both, subterfuge and deciet play some role in both.
The huge Katvana Empire is at war with the neighboring Kioka republic. In a corner of the empire, a young man is about be caught up in the flames of war. His name is Iwata Soroku. He's lazy, a philanderer, and he hates war. He's about as far from a soldier as you can get. On his way towards the next stage of officer's qualification exams, he and his childhood friend Yatorishino Igsem encounter the nurse trainee Harouma Beckle, Mashuu Tetrijirch, a member of the old military faction, and Torwey Lemion....
The real reason why people are disappointed in GATE because of its potential "realism" and "simulation-like" scenario where modern military, politics, and social interactions were involved, and the author kinda blew it by turning into an unnecessary propaganda and adding tropes or flanderization where it doesn't needed because it almost, ALMOST, simulate "real life" scenario.
Yanai just isn't that good of a fantasy writer, whether he's aware of it or not.
