If you want to follow the “proper” order, you should watch first Fate/Zero, then Fate/Stay Night UBW from ufotable (not the movie version) and finally the movie Fate/Stay Night: Heaven’s Feel. However, ufotable put a lot of references in FSN: UBW that will fly over your head if you haven’t watched Fate/Zero.

Originally Answered: Is the Fate series anime worth watching? Yeah, sure. If you're looking for a solid action fantasy, look no further. The basic premise is a battle royale between 7 master-servant pairs for a prize known as the Holy Grail.
The Fate series is possibly one of the best and most adapted anime ever. So many spin-offs and alternate timelines have been brought to life from the anime series. With each new Fate anime release adding more to the deep lore and intriguing characters, we can't get enough of the content.
While the original series wasn't light-hearted by any means, it had moments of repose. With Zero, things hit the fan and they never quite come down. Be it its engaging narrative, solid animation or diverse cast of characters – Zero delivers in every way, and is the most exceptional Fate anime because of that.

IMO, when it comes to Nasuverse, especially Fate series, most likely the first thing that draws fans are designs; there is just something about seeing famous historical, or fictional people from the past, or legends, sort of being remade in current age, in beloved anime form, some of them even being genderbended.
It has amazing fight animations, better than 99% of other anime. It has some great moral conflicts, such as the nature of being a king or the idea of sacrificing a few to save the many. It has some amazing characters who undergo great character development (Rider FTW).
Fate/Zero is a show that I found absolutely no problems in. The Story is fantastic and engaging, while the characters are complex and enjoyable to watch. Animation and colors pop and make everything look visually stunning through a nice blend of hand drawn animation and CGI.
Well, Stay Night is the Core Franchise, I think it's best to watch the spin offs after SN's 3 routes. If you want to miss the masterpiece that is Heaven's Feel, yes you can skip.

In what order should I watch the Fate Series? Definitely watch Fate/Zero first before anything else. Then watch Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works the TV series. Fate/Zero is the prequel to FSN, so it's recommended watching that way.
But the anime is able to change perspectives and show the viewers the events from the viewpoint of other characters.
10 Anime: Story Is Shorter. The visual novels are famously long and complicated, and they’re definitely not something a person should read if they aren’t focused on being all-in, especially since there are a bunch of options for the way the story can unfold.
The visual novels aren’t meant to be incredibly well-animated, since the visual aspect is just meant to help tell the story. So the fight scenes that happen in the visual novels aren’t all that well animated. But the same fight scenes as adapted in the Fate anime are pretty fun. The animation is HD, and the animators have clearly taken a lot ...
The scenes in both the visual novels and the anime are accompanied by music. The music in the anime definitely seems to have had more thought put behind it, which makes sense , since the storytelling is different than in the visual novels. The opening and ending themes of Fate are also excellent and really help propel the vibe ...
0. Comment. The Fate franchise has a lot of pretty amazing entries, both as an anime and as games and visual novels. The visual novels originated the series, and many feel that they are the best version of Fate storytelling, whereas others believe that the anime adaptations of the novels are better. Each version has elements about it that make ...
4 Anime: Less Adult. While the anime isn’t exactly for children, since there are a ton of bloody battles and some questionable sexual politics, it’s definitely a little more tame than the visual novels.
The anime has a pretty streamlined version of the story, which makes sense, given that it has less space to tell the story and also wants to make it as simple as possible to follow.
Long Version: The 2006 anime focuses on the first ( and large ly considered worst) route of the visual novel, whose novel counterpart in the Fate route is usually seen as a highlight of the worst aspects of Kinoko Nasu’s writing.
Fate/Zero acts as a prequel of sorts to Fate/Stay Night, but technically takes place in an alternate reality/timeline. Every other installment in the series is almost entirely independent from the story of Fate/Stay Night.
Many of the anime take place in alternate timelines, where the events of the other anime never happened. Just because you like or dislike one anime in the franchise doesn’t mean you will feel the same way about the others. All excellent and definitely worth watching. Depends on the anime.
Fate/Zero acts as a prequel of sorts to Fate/Stay Night, but technically takes place in an alternate reality/timeline. No, it doesn't necessarily matter if you are an anime only watcher.
Fate/Extra is a good game, though. So I recommend playing it.) Fate/Grand Order: First Order (This is the start of the anime adaptation of the Fate/Grand Order video game. I recommend waiting till the other anime adaptations are released before watching it, so you can watch them in the correct order.)
The Fate franchise isn’t one storyline. Many of the anime take place in alternate timelines, where the events of the other anime never happened. Just because you like or dislike one anime in the franchise doesn’t mean you will feel the same way about the others. Here is my pesonal opinion on the series:
Emiya-san Chi no Kyou no Gohan (A spin-off featuring the characters of the previously mentioned shows. It is disconnected from the main stories, but I recommend watching it after the others, since it contains some spoilers.) Fate/Apocrypha (It’s a spin-off that is entirely disconnected from the other Fate stories.
Also generally not regarded as a good show, but some people like it. Fate Grand Order 1 - Adaptation of the first story point of the mobile game of the same name. It's not a great story but it's neat if you're a fan of the game, otherwise it's not particularly worth watching.
If you ask me, the Deen adaptation is generally not worth watching, as it is a poor adaptation of the visual novel and crams in too many things from all 3 routes. Personally if you wanna stay with only anime I'd recommend going for option 3. As for the rest of the Fate series, well that's a whole 'nother can of worms.
