Dragon Ball Super: How the Manga and Anime Differ
Naruto is more relative than dragon Ball in how the world works etc etc. Even though that sounds stupid considering its an anime, it's also more complex than dragon Ball because everyone has their own fighting techniques and abilities whereas in dragon Ball alot of fighters fight the same way just using ki blasts.
The anime Dragon Ball has a very unique concept note, which fortunately is executed very well. It is riddled with a lot of mythological, religious, and cultural influences, which give it depth.
Things to note before we begin:
In general, Toriyama (creator of DB/DBZ/DBS) gives out the story with major plot points that must be followed. He leaves out how to go from Point A to Point B and allows Toei (Anime)/ Toyo (Manga) to fill them up, which is why they're different.
The DBS manga and Anime are pretty different. I feel the story in the Manga was way better. It kept a better job at keeping Goku and Vegeta as rivals. While in the Anime Goku basically got almost everything from Kaioken, Super Saiyan blue and Super Saiyan god and Ultra instinct.
Probably. And no. Probably not! The simple reason is that the manga Dragon Ball Super and the manga of Toyotaro, not that of Akira Toriyama, and is always based on an original idea of Akira Toriyama!
For those that want to witness the Dragon Ball series as it was originally intended to be witnessed, the manga is a must-read. It is mostly well thought out as far as early shonen are and the themes, ability, and characterizations are absolutely perfect.
Dragon Ball Super Gets Cancelled Overseas Over Sexual Harassment Claims. Dragon Ball Super has been out for years now, but the show continues to find new fans by the day. From the manga to series re-runs, there are lots of ways to check on the title, and these outlets are huge in South America.

They're both based on Tori's manuscript, so if you define canon as "Toriyama's original vision" then anything that appears in both the manga and the anime would be considered canon.
200 yearsSaiyans can live up to 200 years and 1/2 to 1/4 Saiyans are truly much better fighters than pure blooded ones. questions and critics are encouraged.
The answer to this question has to be a resounding yes, although it wouldn't be such a massive problem if a viewer starts watching Dragon Ball Super before watching any episode of Dragon Ball Z.
Dragon Ball is a great manga IMO, it might be the best manga ever or a great manga in a critic stand point of view but it's worth checking out. Toriyama's artwork and characters makes the series worth wide.
Dragon Ball GT is a non-canon installment in the Dragon Ball universe that is not based on Akira Toriyama's Dragon Ball manga. The entire 64-episode series is filler, and as it is unrelated to the main plot, you can skip it entirely.
Both the manga and anime each featured their own side stories that did not appear in their corresponding counterpart. The manga has an extra sequence of Trunks and Goten taking care of the wildlife preserve guarded by Android 17 while the android-turned-park-ranger is away fighting in the Tournament of Power. During this sequence, the boys discover Cell Juniors on the island who attack, until they realize the two young fighters mean them no harm.
In a standalone animated film, Goku and Vegeta face off against a reimagined Broly, with a resurrected Frieza exacerbating the situation as part of his continued revenge against the Saiyans. In addition to introducing a canonical version of Broly to the franchise, the movie also brings in Gogeta, the composite warrior formed by Goku and Vegeta doing the Fusion Dance.
Released shortly after as promotional material was the Dragon Ball Super manga. Because the original writer, Akira Toriyama, and his main co-writer, Toyotaro, both have more involvement in the manga than the anime, there are a lot of differences between the two, the biggest of which will be listed here.
After only publishing spin-off manga for many years, the Dragon Ball series made a comeback in 2015 with the Dragon Ball Super anime.
Goku achieves a form referred to as "Perfected Super Saiyan Blue" that he uses to combat Zamasu after he merges with Goku Black. Vegeta also attained this form later in the manga.
This one is a bit weird, as even in the anime, they describe Super Saiyan Blue as a form where you essentially "stack" Super Saiyan on top of Super Saiyan God. This means that Vegeta has also used Super Saiyan God in the anime, we just never see it.
Late into Dragon Ball Super, we see Goku break his limits and use a technique referred to as Ultra Instinct. This form's less developed state is called Ultra Instinct "Omen" and throughout the Tournament of Power, we see Vegeta also try to achieve this state that is difficult even for a God of Destruction to attain.
In the manga, during the Zamasu Arc, Goku uses the Hakai technique to erase Merged Zamasu. Goku only has an incomplete version of the technique, but being able to erase people partially is better than not being able to erase people at all. Weirdly enough, Goku is being trained by the Gods to be a Destroyer.
Jiren the Grey was brought into Dragon Ball Super to be the main antagonist during the Tournament of Power. At the time of his fights, he was the greatest foe the Z-Warriors had ever faced. Unlike Hit, Jiren does not have many abilities; he simply is powerful, and excessively at that.
The anime gives us 88 minutes of screen time to the manga’s 40-44 pages a month. But in terms of rewatching or re-reading, the anime takes forever to reach the same plot points the manga has already hit and moved on from.
The manga has Vegeta lose because he showed off too much, and Goku only needs Super Saiyan Blue to take Hit down. Though some might argue this makes Goku and Vegeta look like their training is paying off, others would say it just makes Hit look bad.
In the end, Super ’s ability to go on because it didn’t have to worry about getting ahead of Toriyama helped it tell some pretty entertaining stories. In the manga, they pretty much go from beating Goku Black right into the Tournament of Power, briefly spending a bit of time talking about who’ll join the team.
Especially in the current arc, as Goku and Vegeta are both vastly stronger than their opponent but aren’t able to do anything about the unique abilities he possesses.
Goku’s not using Kaio-Ken times twenty, effectively multiplying his power level by a geometric rate and still getting stomped out by Jiren. Trunks isn’t discovering new Super Saiyan transformations with zero explanation.
With Dragon Ball Super's manga and anime running almost concurrently, both versions have their own advantages and disadvantages. Typically, when it comes to a franchise, the manga is something of a cheat sheet the anime copies off. It pulls events as directly as possible from the manga, with its major contributions being animation, color, music, ...
Goku’s not using Kaio-Ken times twenty, effectively multiplying his power level by a geometric rate and still getting stomped out by Jiren.
Manga Black is literally someone in Goku's body. They don't know what the fuck they are mostly doing, he doesn't have this huge Ego/SUPERGod complex (like the anime did, but tbh the anime personality of Black was 20 times better) Its Zamasu, he didn't not act like he wasn't Zamasu. He talked like him, acted like him.
Goku Nicknames Zeno "Ally/Allie" in the manga (Not Zen-Chan) EDIT: Many pointed out it's a dub mistake by VIZ. Goku Black goes Super saiyan when he fights Goku and Vegeta for the first time. Goku never comes to U10 to meet Zamasu. Zamasu directly tried to attack Beerus and is killed same way as the anime.
Goku had to use God form (red) to beat him. Goku Black didn't kill the Supreme kai of the 7th Universe in the manga. He was killed by dabura when he and trunks tried to stop them from reviving majin buu.
The whole tournament was Goku and Vegeta playfighting, and Goku reveals that he is so much stronger as SSB that he can no-sell Hit's strongest Time-Skip.
