The Dorohedoro anime series was nominated for the 2021 5th Crunchyroll Anime Awards. Thrillist 's Kambole Campbell wrote: " Dorohedoro hooks viewers with a wild premise and a unique, macabre world, but its staying power is in its cast of charming characters, as well as its numerous detours."
Dorohedoro ends on a high note, but for how long will this respite of peace for Kaiman and Nikaido last? WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Dorohedoro Season 1, now streaming on Netflix. After being trapped in Netflix jail for some time, Dorohedoro ’s first season finally dropped.
The dark fantasy manga Dorohedoro was originally published from 2000 to 2018. A total of 23 volumes have been released, with the manga series ending with Chapter 167, “All-Star Sayonara”.
With fans demanding more, here is what is known about a potential second season of Dorohedoro. Dorohedoro has not been renewed for a second season officially. The manga is complete and the first season adapted less than a third of the total number of chapters.
To date, production company Mappa has not given "Dororo" a renewal and it is uncertain this will ever happen. The first season is being dubbed anew into English, however, and will reportedly see a DVD and digital release this summer, according to the Anime News Network.
Hyakkimaru is a young boy who was born without any limbs or organs. He was born from the house of a Feudal Lord, Daigo, who abandoned his own son because he is limbless.
Yes, Dororo and Hyakkimaru end up together, as that hint from Biwamaru and that final lovely scene tells us they do.

The series is set in a post-apocalyptic future, taking place across three distinct realms: Hole, a sprawling favela -like city inhabited by humans, heavily polluted from sorcerers' magic; the Sorcerers' world, a vibrant land filled with magic users and controlled by sorcerer crime boss En; and Hell, a torturous underworld occupied by all deceased sorcerers and ruled by demons, presided over by head demon Chidaruma.
Luckily, the devil, Asu, arrives on the scene and saves her. Nikaido is freed from En’s control, however, Asu explains this is only temporary as the contract she and En formed is still in effect. If they are to come in contact again, the contract in her body will regenerate, so she must escape before En discovers this.
Asu creates a door for both her and Kaiman to escape far from En’s mansion, telling Nikaido that he always wanted to help her out. What Asu means by this is unclear. Asu then changes the appearance of the obsessive Chota into Nikaido to fool En while Nikaido and Kaiman are on the run.
Overall, Dorohedoro managed to pull off an excellent first season and strong adaptation of its manga source material. Creating a unique world steeped in magic, corruption, and gyoza, it’s one of the freshest anime to come out in recent years. With an assortment of morally grey characters all trying to find what will bring them peace in this depressing world of theirs, its earnestness to not shy away from the dark and grotesque is what it makes a series worth continuing. And the end of Season 1 shows plenty of promise for a follow-up season.
We also learn that Shin and the eccentric Professor Kasukabe have a past relationship, which is what ends up saving him and his Hole companions from meeting a gruesome death. Shin agrees to protect them but insists that they return back to Hole as soon as possible. Knowing how unhinged the cleaner is, it’s unclear how long Shin will put up with the professor’s quirky behavior.

Joseph Luster of Otaku USA called the series a "weird title", but he said that the story "makes for some prime manga absorption". He called the artwork "rough and sketchy, but painstakingly detailed", comparing it to the art style of Kentaro Miura and Pushead. Bill Sherman of Blogcritics praised Hayashida's writing and her bold artwork with her "in-your-face action and punkish scratchiness".
