Another reason why Dragon Ball Z is the best anime is that they sure knew how to do proper character development. Vegeta had one of the most perfect character development arcs in history, in fact, his character never stopped developing. The anti-heroes in anime owe their existence to Vegeta, at least a lot of them.
When talking about anime is inevitably referring to one of the most popular in all of history: Dragon Ball. It is 35 years since its first broadcast in Japan , as this television adaptation of the manga was a milestone in the history of animations.
Though Dragon Ball Z is one of the most popular animes of all time, Naruto has a much stronger story and better lead characters. Dragon Ball is one of the most influential anime & manga series of all time.

Being in Japan right now- the answer is definitely yes, but not to the extent as it was previously. The main market is the now-adults who grew up with it as others have pointed out. But, DBZ is still everywhere.
Attack on Titan is better. From the Animation, the Plot and how character develops. It blows DBS with ease. DBS anime is so predictable, the manga is even worser.
Originally Answered: Which one is better than dragonball z? Naruto. The characters do not have even near that much of power level (you'll never see more powerful characters in any anime), but the story is much more interesting.

10 Naruto — Masashi Kishimoto drew inspiration from Dragon Ball & Goku. Kishimoto has admitted that he started working on manga, to begin with, because of Dragon Ball and Goku in particular. It's not difficult to see the influence either — Naruto and Goku are both big eaters.
Yes, it is. It's a good anime, but it's not great- the battles are really drawn out, and there's just too many power-ups. And, of course, the dubbed versions suck. They take all the fun out the the original Japanese version.
Dragon Ball Z will always be the winner if these two are compared. Those who never had the chance to view the original series Dragon Ball Z would say that Kai is a high-quality anime series and would prefer Kai because it remained true to what the scriptwriter has written.
Dragon Ball Z is a series that gained popularity for the crazy battles and that turned it into the most popular battle shonen of all time. Now that's one of the reasons that so many people even care about the series, which is why there's so much commotion when a character stops being a fighter in the series now.
One thing that came from Dragon Ball Z that she series is so well known for is the countless ridiculous transformations that the series introduced. This new form of power scaling was one of the most influential concepts in the world of shonen anime and manga and it has been only gaining more steam as the series continues.
This has birthed three sequels to this series with each being more flawed in the eyes of some fans than the last.
Dragon Ball is more about character growth and mastery of their skill instead of who is reaching what form next. Dragon Ball Z just focuses on this concept a bit too much to symbolize a new limit being reached.
The series featured a lot of fights but they never took away from that mission to travel the world and collect the seven mystical Dragon Balls.
As said earlier, the original Dragon Ball is a series that didn 't incorporate the crazy galaxy level power scaling yet. The series isn't the host of hundreds of transformations either. This is because the original Dragon Ball wasn't all about power levels.
It began to evolve into a martial arts anime but that didn't take away from other aspects of the series. However, when it comes to Dragon Ball Z the fights were first and foremost to many fans which ended up taking the series into a much different direction.
These are no ordinary names in Anime world. Anyone who loves animes would probably have goosebumps on hearing these names together. Akira Toriyami is creator Of Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball super that is currently being aired on TV.
Piccolo couldn't beat Frost, Shisami or Tagoma. The last big reason I wasn't a fan of Dragon Ball Super is because of what it's done to the fanbase. Before DBS the Dragon Ball fanbase was one of the best anyone could ever be a part of.
this guy, kills goku's best friend (krillin ), tries to kill goku's son. destroy's goku's planet leading to extinction of his race, destroys many other planets and still in the end, goku gives him a chance to repent for his mistake.
Now talking about DBZ…it is the best anime coz it came in 1989 and previous to it came dragon ball 1986.Now dragon ball is considered to be one of the oldest anime. It is counted as one of older animes when there were starting to get successful.
They both can be termed the top. In movies, books, games, anime's, manga one cannot just term any one title as the best they can be the best in their respective genre but you cannot term something the best on your point of view everyone has different interests and taste.
Although Dragon Ball Z is much beloved, it’s far from one of the better overall anime adaptations out there. It’s painfully slow compared to the manga, it uses its episode time poorly, and the animation isn’t nearly as consistent as everyone seems to remember. At the same time, when Dragon Ball Z is at its best, ...
There’s a reason Dragon Ball Z took off in spite of its faults: the core of the series is just that good. All that said, episode and animation quality don’t seem to matter as much when it comes to IMDb ratings. Rather, cultural perceptions of the character and franchise tend to play a much larger role in how the series is reviewed.
The American Dragon Ball opening may have infamously showed Goku as a Super Saiyan during the opening credits prior to his transformation, but that didn’t make his ultimate turn into a Super Saiyan any less epic for western fans. After an entire arc’s worth of build up, Goku was finally turning the tables on Freeza.
For fans growing up with Dragon Ball Z’s serialization, however, this was the end of season 2. This was the end of Dragon Ball Z for a while. It was as far as the series was dubbed before season 3, but at least the season went out on a relatively high note, featuring Goku’s return and some nice action. 3 WORST: Vegito….
The Majin Buu arc has similar problems to the Cell arc. Both have great anime adaptations right up until the very end of their arcs. The moment Goku and Vegeta fuse into Vegito, it’s more or less over for the Buu= arc’s pacing for a while. The worst of it comes when the fusion breaks apart and Goku and Vegeta need to trek through Boo’s body.

Unlike most of Netflix's original programming, Devilman Crybaby offers a succinct and moving story in the span of 10 episodes. But be warned, Devilman Crybaby is sure to make younger viewers with parents in the room extremely uncomfortable with its explicit depictions of sex, violence, and profanity.
Kill la Kill features the tense rivalry of Ryuko Matoi and Satsuki Kiryuin.
The long-running Naruto series has been referred to as one of the “big three” anime because of its wild popularity around the world, and for good reason. It’s full of action-packed fight sequences, hilariously fun moments, and dramatic scenes that pull at your heartstrings.
The influential manga series has been around since 1987 and has only been airing the anime since 2012.
Dragon Ball Z. Dragon Ball Z was a gateway drug for many a young anime fan, and for good reason. The series isn't particularly deep, as it basically revolves around superhuman martial artist Goku and his friends testing their mettle against an increasingly powerful and outlandish series of foes.
